DW and I purchased our first MH last month. Being what I call frugal (others call me a tight wad ) I decided to try to piece together a DISH system from a few Craigslisters. I am a Dish home subscriber and was able to get them to send me a new VIP211 - I told them it was for my newly finished basement. I also found a D1000-2 from one CLer and a tripod from another. So tonight I tried to configure the whole system.
I got the D1000-2 onto the tripod. I got the VIP211 out of the box. Here's the head scratcher. The VIP211 has ONE input for a satellite input but the D1000-2 has FOUR cables coming from it. I took the LNB's off and realize one of these four is a second cable off the 129 LNB. I'm not sure what that's for. So what do I need (if it's even possible) to get these three LNB's connected to the receiver and what is that second cable from the 129 LNB do?

OK , so this may be of no help at all ; because I have Bell equipment. It would appear that your singe cable reciever is for digital signals, and the dish you have is set for HD multi satilite reception. The 2 cable Lnbs carry signals from the odd ( horizontal transponders) and even( vertical transponders) If 129 is your satilite, then with a sat system
rated splitter , installed in reverse, to merge the signals, run the 1 line to the reciever. You could try with only the 1 cable from the lnb, can't hurt , but I think you'll find that you ony get 1/2 the channels. Good luck

The 4th one is for connecting another dish if you needed it but you probably don't. Any of the 1st three will work. Your Dish is designed to support up to 3 dual tuner receivers.

my suggestion is to remove all of the cables except for the one connected to the 119 LNB. That will be the one you use to line up the dish. This cable plugs into the SATELLITE IN connection the receiver.
Go to Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com and enter your address in the top space. In the bottom space scroll near the bottom and pick 1000.2 (110/119/129) under the Multi-LNB section. Hit GO and the screen will give you your pointing angles. Set your Elevation and Skew on the dish ahead of time. Setup your tripod and make sure your pole is as plumb as possible. Some will say you can compensate for it being out of plumb, and you can, but you may have to play around with the skew and elevation to do so. If it is plumb, skew and elevation should be fairly accurate. Mount the dish on the pole and cover the outer two LNBs with a piece of tin foil. This will limit anything picked up to be on the 119 satellite. When you get signal, and the TV screen says you are on 119, and you have you highest possible signal (by playing with azimuth and elevation), locked everything down and test again to insure nothing has moved. Now you need to remove the tin foil and you should see signal on 110 and 129 in addition to 119. Now run the CHECK SWITCH and all three satellites should be displayed in GREEN. Now you can exit the setup screen and let the channel guide download.

One cable from the LNB works for both standard and HD television, or at least mine does here at our house to supply one receiver with two tuners inside. If you have a single tuner receiver it takes one cable each from the dish supplying each receiver. Dish (EchoStar) owns 14 satellites, but only three downloading signals for subscription residential use, 110, 119 and 129.

thanks for all the responses but back to my original post. Can I just get a 3 way splitter and put all 3 cables on it and connect the other end to my 1 receiver? I need help getting three cables on a receiver with only one satellite input.

I see the problem. MINE looks like the images attached and has three separate LNB's - each with an independent, separate coax coming from it down through the arm. Is there a way to tie these all together into one input feed?

That's not of the current 1000.2 design. Its either really old or some variant I've never seen before. I retract what I said above. I have no clue.

There are, I think, two 1000.2 setups. The newer ones have 3 LNB's mounted in a single enclosure and includes an intergrated SWITCH which automatically selects the satellite your viewing channel is located on. This system needs only one cable out to the receiver.
The other system has 3 separate LNB's that attach to a bracket with 3 cables comming out. This setup needs an external SWITCH which connects to the 3 cables and then feeds a cable to a receiver. Sounds like what you have if I'm reading your post's correctly.
You may have to get a switch, a DP44, I think.
PS, just a thought, For an RV use I would not want an external switch as their usually mounted in a home, out of the weather and elements. They are about apx. 5"x5"x1".
Hopefully Bill, or someone else will read this and be able to set you straight on what you need.
Pat

Before throwing good money after bad and buying an external switch, I suggest you just ditch the sorta-kinda 1000.2 you bought and get a Dish 500 Pro with just 2 LNBs.
Dish 500s are cheap, easy to aim, and you can use a cheap tripod and signal strength meter.
If you must have a HD 3 LNB dish, get the 1000.4 (~$60) and buy a good tripod & meter.
