In Motion Experience

I recently upgraded my KVH R4SL to a R5SL with In Motion. Wasn't working first time out. Ran through the commands again in the upgrade guide. It worked after that.

In general I'm wondering about the experience one should expect with In Motion? I assume newer domes have better In Motion technology.

On drive home this past weekend. I was on a 4 lane with no trees around. It was working fine. Each time I went under an over pass I lost signal. The KVH took a long time to recover. We had to use the recall funtion on the Dish remote to bring the picture back up. I'm using Dish and its setup for the east coast and 110, 119, and 61.5.

When I had one on the last MH it would cut out for just a second or two and come right back on. It was a Data-stat if I remember right. Jim

I had the same with my Motosat as RVjimmy, it would drop out under a bridge and come right back once past the bridge.

Think about it...if the satellite signal won't pass through trees, heavy rain clouds, etc...kinda hard imagining the satellite signal going through an overpass. Same thing happens with Sirius XM. Satellie signals don't generally bend much as opposed to the radio frequencies.

I knew there would be a signal interuption going under the overpass. With the KVH R5SL and Dish the signal was lost and didn't return right away. I waited awhile then found out if I used the recall button on the remote I could get back to the channel.

I was hoping that the signal would return quickly and on its own. Going to try and speak to KVH and see if my experience is expected.

What model KVH do you have? Also, do you use Direct or Dish? If Dish what receiver?
