This is a story posted on the Drudge Report this morning: Industry feeling presence of 800 pound google
If the new Windows security issue is not resolved quickly, my guess is that Microsoft may open a very large door for Google to drive through with a totally new and very safe operating system. (and that may be a good thing)
Speaking of Google, has anybody uploaded Googles Earth yet? I did last night and that is the wildest thing I've ever seen. We were able to pick out our rig parked in our campground in Davenport and my brother-in-laws house in a burb of Rochester, NY.
It also has a pretty darned clever routing system.
The pictures are about a month old but are unbelievably clear. I'm still reading all the goodies available.

Dave, I love google earth. I've been flying all over the world. Saw my old army post in Vicenza, Italy.

Good morning Donavan,
Isn't Google Earth something else? I've had a chance to read through all the FAQ's and experiment with the tools available and I'm just amazed. Tilting the landscape, 3 D pics of buildings, zooming in and out are just some of the many options available. And inserting the electronic pins into places you want to return to makes retreiving favorite places a snap.
Tania and I will have a ball playing with this software looking at places around the world.
Bill Gates has responded to the Google article. Gates sees IBM not Google as top Microsoft rival
The competition is just great and it will be very interesting to see all the new products that will become avaiable down the road and these giants battle it out.

I'm having a little prob with Google Earth. I have used it on other folks computers and was able to zoom in with a sharp image. But, on my laptop, when I zoom in the resolution turns to crap. My display is set at 1400x1050, and other pix are just fine. Any ideas?

I've had that happen on two locations I've looked up, one in Pennsylvania and one in New York State. The focus was excellent until the zoom dropped under 2000 feet.
If I moved the destination point forward, backward, left or right, a focused area would come into view quickly but not for the 2 specific addresses I had put into the "Fly To" block.
All the other "Fly To" locations have been fine. Both locations that were out of focus were in heavily wooded areas.
My screen resolution is set at 1024 x 768 for a 14.5" monitor.

When we get to Rochester this summer, (and just before I order Roadrunner) I'll try it under dial up and see how it works.
