Information on Microsoft 10 OS

I'm needing to replace my old laptop with Vista OS with a new laptop and wondering what kind of experience anyone might be having with the new Microsoft 10.
I heard some of the earlier ones, 7,8,etc weren't all that great and since 10 seems to be the only one available on new computers I may be jumping out of the frying pan into the fire.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

One issue may be your printer. There is a good chance Windows 10 won't support it.

Lost a stalwart HP B/W only printer. Not only No Win10 drivers but no help from HP on any printer over 10 years old.

Bought a laptop and a desktop just before win10 and up dated both, one over wifi while on the road and the other at home wired.
Other than long installation times both went smoothly and have worked flawlessly.
YMMV but be advised I also liked XP and Vista as they went thru their life cycles.

Windows 10 will take some getting used to, but once you adjust and adapt to the new, you will find it much better than previous versions in regards to stability, performance and features. Personally, I rarely use my Windows Surface except for a backup for my IPad Pro and IPhone pictures. I can do everything I need to do on the I devices.

I would not call win10 new anymore. It's been out for a few years now. And is quite mature. Yes, some older hardware may not be supported. Architecture differences may make vendors opt to make the business decision to not expend resources to support.

If you are using limited data. Just be sure to turn off the live apps on 10.
Or you will run out very quick.

I had no problem with 7, 8 or now 10. Faster start up.
Buy one with at least 8 or more memory and you will be happy.

Good tip. BTW, the best way to do this is probably to set the wireless connection that has limited data to "Metered".

HP is terrible re driver support for new OSs.
I have completely stopped pur hasing HP equipment due to their sales model... stop supporting it and everyone will have to buy another.
I had a Brother printer that they supported for a VERY Loooong time. Now have an Epson and hoping for similar experience.
NO HP computers printers scanners again for me

My old laptop and printer are both HP so I'm assuming if I purchase a Dell or some other brand I'll be purchasing both laptop and printer.
Thanks for all the replys as I'm not very computer literate and only use it for browsing and asking questions on the Forums, sending/receiving e-mail, and occasionally ordering something off the Internet.

I'm just now getting comfortable making phone calls and using test messages on the new Smart Phone we purchased in late August when our flip phone flipped out on us. Being able to do anything else on it is probably way way down the line.

It came on my MS Surface Book I got a year ago. As others have stated, once you get used to it, it is better than previous versions. Starts up in a flash.
