Installing a system - 2010 Fuzion 398 Toyhauler

The dealer wants over $650 to install a system. This seemed high so I called Keystone. They do not recommend adding a satellite on the roof and say to use a unit that sits on a tripod.

I generally will be in "parking lot" type RV locations as I will be using the Fuzion to attend shooting competitiions.

My significant other is worried about the $800 dome unit being stolen if we mount it outside on the ground.

Also, how do you receive "normal" UHF TV if using one of these dome thingys?

Can anyone offer advice for this newbie?

Thanks,

Don

If you don't care about high definition TV, there are many self pointing alternatives to roof mounted domes and dishes. Some portable auto point dish/domes offer mounting systems that allow you to affix them to your rv ladder for temporary installation and security (VuQube is one). As far as off-air broadcasts, some domes have antennas built in and some don't. Your rig most likely has a batwing antenna for this purpose anyway. Myself, I really like my Winegard Trav'ler rooftop dish. It was easy for me to install and has been a great performer.
