I am looking to replace my automatic satellite with an in-motion from Winegard. In order to install, I have to install the GPS unit at least 3' away from the antenna. On my '06 Discovery, there is an AC unit behind the antenna. Anyone that has installed one of these, or have one installed, have any ideas where to locate the GPS? Can I install on top of the AC housing? Can I move it and install it on the front of the coach like they have the satellite radio antenna? Any other suggestions?

Seems like anywhere the antenna has a open view of the sky. From one location on your roof to another is not a great distance, but I can't say. What if you just layed the antenna on your roof then turned on the unit to see how that location was with the antenna. Good luck.

Mine is about 3' away mounted on my awning bracket. As long as it has a clear view, you should be all set.I am sure you know, but make sure your dome has a clear site too.I had to mount mine in the middle of the coach because my front ac sits to close to front cap.

I am going to install the antenna where the old one was located. There is plenty of clearance, so I should have a clean shot.
My main issue is where to install the little GPS unit that comes with the in-motion. I am not sure how sensitive it is to interference or how close it can be located to obstructions. Sounds like I can go to the side and be fine....thanks

Thats it,good luck. When I bought my winegard in motion , I originally was going to get the stationary. My wife looked at me and said why? in a month you will be cursing that you didnt get inmotion.I love her because she's smart . Never regretted it.Kids watch in bedroom or we tune in a baseball game when on,life is good.

I know what you mean.....my first two coach's had in-motion and the thought of not having it was killing me. I found a great deal on a new one via Ebay and will install it myself.
