Internet on the road?
What do you use for wireless internet while mobile?
Do you know what is available as an affordable hotspot?

We use a Verizon iPhone w/hotspot...buying the megabytes we typically need.
We have tried several carriers and found that there are big differences in the coverage map, so an unlimited plan from some carriers could leave you camping in a gap in their coverage map. How a family travels will control how you move in and out of the more dense coverage areas.
And, a current ad campaign claims 1% reliability with other carriers...but reliability is not coverage.
There is no easy answer. A lot depends on how much data you need and where you travel.
Best luck

Coverage is typically Verizon best, then AT&T a close second, T-Mobile, and Sprint. With pricing aligned pretty much. We have MetroPCS on T-Mobile. Unlimited data (on the phone) and 8gb tethered, per month. Also have a pay-as-you-go Verizon dedicated hotspot device if needed.

We currently use ATT with 16 gig data per month and it seems to work well. We tether computers and tv as well. We also added Direct TV Now to the plan. This a no contract plan which works for us as currently we are on the road for 3 months at a time twice a year.

We use a AT&T mifi box for our home and traveling use. Works well. Thinking of switching to Verizon since with certain plans you can use your data while in Canada. With AT&T I can not.

Being a business owner, I need to have connectivity most of the time. I'm constantly on the search for reliable internet while out on the road. I've talked to Dish and Direct TV, neither offer a data package yet. So, like others, I rely on my iPhone as a hot spot. I did purchase a cellular booster recently (jury is still out). The theory is boosting the 4G signal making the hotspot a little more reliable. There's always the wifi at most of the parks (some good, some bad). Parking near a McDonalds or Starbucks to pick up their free wifi signal works as well for a quick check in. I'm sure in the next couple of years, there'll be something we can all run out and buy :-).

I have an amplified router I mount on the window if there is free wifi around, and if so then my devices all connect to my router for connectivity (PC's, Smart TV's)
If no free wifi, then I have a Verizon Mifi Hotspot, no monthly plan, prepay for some data before trips. Devices will connect to this hotspot instead.
Phones are on their own grandfathered AT&T unlimited data plan, so would only shift them to connect to router/hotspot if there wasn't ATT cell tower coverage.

If your a business owner a company at unlimitedville.com has a $45.00 unlimited plan on Sprint. I have it and on my trip from Portland, OR to Myrtle Beach, SC I have only not had service twice. I get data rates from 3 to 50 meg. Sprint has their Spark system which is the old WIMAX which boosts speeds. Give them a try but you must be a small business.

We use Verizon for data while on a hot spot. The speed isn't bad and the coverage is real good. There are dead areas around the country but that's true with everyone. With our Verizon plan we reduce the data need when at home and increase it while on the road. If we are in an area, like near a McDonalds, Starbucks, or at the campground, I connect using an Ubiquiti Nano Station and Belkin router. This is a wifi antenna I mounted on the top of our coach using a Winegard TV antenna mast. Connected through the router it gives us a secure encrypted system for internet usage. In fact when we are at the house I connect the coach to my home system as if I'm on the road. It comes in handy if I need to research something while working on the coach. I can take the laptop out there and hook up.
