I bought Emprum external GPS a couple of years ago and it worked flawlessly with CoPilot until I updated the software on my iPad to IOS 8.3. Now it gets no signal at all. I emailed Emprum and got this reply, I was so dependent on it and now I don't know what to do. Here is the reply I got from Emprum:
Apple broke things completely on iOS8.3. They have been made aware of the problem, but we will have to see how quickly they will push out an 8.3.x/8.4 update. It affects ALL external GPS accessories. The issue is supposedly fixed in iOS8.4.
Only apps that take location input directly from our accessory still work. Anything that goes through the iOS corelocation framework is broken now. Unfortunately, the ball is in Apple's ball park, so hang in there for now, or you can try downgrading to 8.2 but that is petty complicated and I believe you loose all your data in the process. You might not be able to downgrade if your iPad is new.
You should be able to see satellite bars in our app as it gets that data directly from the accessory. The GPS tab of our app goes through iOS though so that probably won't work.
I recommend complaining and filing a bug report with Apple about this. The more people speak out, probably the faster they will push out an update.
You can google for this bug as well: "external GPS broken on iOS 8.3".
Hope this helps.
