Actually I don't think it's possible to stop me... just watched the video, haven't paid much attention... If you look closely there are so many RV solutions/assistants in this thing... One that immediately comes to mind is a VERY LARGE SCREEN gps... they are selling a stand for it... set it on the dash... easy to see the backlit led screen... it can even talk to you and tell you when to turn... I'm sure i'll be in line Saturday morning at apple store.

Apple - iPad - See the web, email, and photos like never before.

I'm sure it would function very well as a large GPS. Don't expect it to do anything other than that though...you won't be able to listen to music with it at the same time. It's a single tasking device.

You'd be better off to go buy a net book. Install a mapping software and a GPS.

My dream is to build a low power PC that lives in my coach. Wireless networking, GPS, Engine monitor, Backup Camera, Music, Movies, Radio, Monitoring system all in one compact low power box. I'll build it someday...

Not true. Just like it's little brothers (iPhone, iPod Touch), the iTunes music player that's included can play music in the background, while some other application is running.

Rocket... outside of our other discussion, you seem like a smart person I could learn something from...
I believe that one can make MILLIONS writing aps for these types of devices... why don't you create your dream device as an ap for iPad or some other type device? Wouldn't be too hard to have it interface with a back up camera would it? Same with engine/tire/fuel/mileage/air pressure monitors right? I just know that I've used iPhone for a couple years and every day I learn something new it can do for me... and I will get an iPad as soon as I can get to the head of the line.

and with the prices I've seen thrown around with some 7" screen gps devices, the price of an iPad with everything else it can do for you doesn't seem like a bad investment.

I'll start with saying I'm not an Apple fan...but they do the user interface better than anyone.

I'm a hardware guy, so the software side of things I generally leave to others. The idea for a central computer that handles all the stuff isn't something I came up with. I've seen some computers in cars of other engineers here at work...I thought, WOW, I could do that in my motor home.

mp3car.com has a TON of stuff you can do...

I switched to Apple MacBookPro after I loved the iPhone so much and I suppose my level of need is such that apple is way better than PC.. but I am sure that's not the case for others or apple would have a larger share of market. What I love about apple is the touch screen capability... it sure makes things easy while driving an RV... I am going to work on a mount for the iPad that hangs above the drivers vision, but within reach so I can us the touch screen. As a GPS device by itself, there are certainly more expensive ones that have smaller screens and require "updates" for maps. Iphone's "maps" is constantly updated and I cant' get over that big screen... for a 55 year old guy with eyes on their way out... that's exciting.

Pick up my Ipad Saturday.. I keep trying to talk myself out of it but keep thinking its going to be so much nicer to read online magazines on and work with some of the spreadsheets I need and run my online business from it.

Also been thinking of a way to mount it RAM Mount already has one of the there mounts which will work with it, But need to see how the Otterbox case is going to look before I go buy there mount.

thanks for the link, I think i'll order the last one, the flat surface mount and put it to the left of my steering wheel... I'm left handed and that will be great.

Be sure to post your reviews.... and thanks in advance for being our beta testers. I also think these would be great on the road but have been exercising substantial restraint to date - it's getting tougher and tougher

Sorry, but the iPad that goes on sale Sat. does not have GPS. The one with 3G has cell phone assisted GPS, but the one with WIFI will only find your location if it knows the location of the WIFI siginal you are on. Better wait till the end of April to get the 3G one if you want GPS as you drive.

I'm went with WiFi version, Mainly because I use a MiFi from sprint and have had good reception so far wherever I have traveled so figured I would stick with that as my access point and it also gives the ability for my wife to have use of the access point.

I'm with others when it comes to GPS the units designed to do it seem to work better, I have 7inch screen on mine.
