I am not sure if this is a "need to have" or a "nice to have" but I am tempted.

If it wasn't the nice to have things there would not be this forum and we all would have more money in our pockets and they are a whole lot easier than a comp.,or lap top especially for rver's.

I bought my wife one for Mother's day last year. I had to "special order" it because no stores had any in stock. We were able to pick it up the day we departed San Diego.

Let me say this. If you want to make your lady happy, it is a good move (along with a kindle, year before that.) There are many, many APPS for it and some are even RV Related. Although, about the only time I can rip it out of her hands is when we first set up and I use the bi-directional level to see what my level status is. (RV Companion APP), and then again when at a laundro-mat. Other than that I don't get to use it to often unless there is something technical to be done to it.

Since i'm the type that wants the best, etc., I bought here the 3G, 64 Gig model.

Must have.

No time spent booting up the computer. Easy to check email. I've used it for client presentations. Load and watch TV shows or movies. Keep ALL your vacation pictures on it.

But the best is when you're driving across WY and you can tell your son 'Find me a donut shop in Rawlins' and the ipad pretty much guides you right to Jerry's Donuts.

Yes, and the ton of APPS (Applications) for finding things.

Don't get me wrong. It is not a laptop, or a PC. There are no bells and whistles on it. No DVD, no CD, no present capabilities for exploring it, and moving files. It will not show a standard flash file, but there is a work around. You can purchase a iPad to "camera" (think USB) connector, and an iPad to VGA connector. So, you can stream video to a television or display your photo album. There is a GPS App, and it is pretty good. Some have even built a stand in their vehicle for viewing.

It does a lot, but it still has a long way to go. I hear that some of the Laptop manufacturers are coming out with their own "tablet" that will have more "PC" functionality. If you must have an iPad, you must have. But, you may want to wait a few months to see what is new on the market.

Lack of a flash player kills it for me. I need to be able to see youtube videos for instruction, etc.

Having been into PC technology since its inception, I have learned not to be an "early adopter" of hardware or software.

When generation 2 or 3 is stable, I'm lookig forwrd to it.

You can watch You Tube with the You Tube App. As for other flashed items there is an APP called "Cloud Browse." Plug an URL into it and it will play the flash video.
