Does anyone use a iphone 4s for a hot spot to connect to the internet for e mails while on the road or even in camp ground?

Yep, lots of people do. We have iPhone 5's and they are easy-peasy to turn on the hot spot and connect.

Using the hot spot is a safer way to keep others from you bussiness ie:e-mails,pay bills,etc............thats what I have been told when you have public WIFI vs hot spot to choose from.

Yes.. Used a I4 on 3G as a hot spot fro my laptop and Ipad. Worked better than I thought it would. I just moved up to a I5S. The 4G is much faster. The 3G was really OK though.

We have a I-5 and I-4. We both use them to connect to the internet, but usually we connect the charge cable to the USB port on the computer which is faster than just connecting via Wi Fi hot spot. We do not have any other internet connection on the road or at home.

I use it all the time as I travel for work. You can also cable it to your computer and do a connection that way instead of wireless. It nice because u can also connect multiple devices wirelessly to it. Many times I use it even when I'm in the hotel because it's faster than the hotel network.

I have an iPhone 5 with AT&T. Tethering is an additional $20 a month on top of our plan. To me it's worth it, I have not had any problem, and the $20 a month gives 5GB data/month. That's plenty unless you're streaming video from netflix. And you can connect up to 5 devices.
We used it from Chicago to Tucson, worked fine even out in the desert.
By the way, the is an iphone app called Coverage which does a decent job of showing where the signals are for various carriers.

Wizard.
I have AT&T. First turn it on with your provider. There is a charge because it will give you 5GB of data I think, per month. You probably have 300MB now. You can do this on your computer or phone. Then go to settings-cellular-hot spot setup. You can pay for one month or leave it on. I think it was $30.00. Different carriers or different plans will be different.

You need to have tethering enabled on your account first. Then, in settings, go to Cellular>Set up Personal Hotspot.

Fast, easy and works great I link my iPhone 5 with iPad. I'm with Verizon just go to settings and turn on hot spot and it will give you a pass code for other devise and that's all.
