Is an upgrade to completely wireless possible??
The search function on threads is not the best, so I apologize if this has been asked before in another old guy quirky way....
We have an 04 Tiffin Allegro Bay 34XB...we have a horrible feedback/buzzing coming through the AV system when boondocking...which is 90% of our travel as we're a Socal desert family...anyway, four people have told us four different answers as to why or what to do.
If I run just the TV / DVD power from an extension cord out the drivers window to my little Honda 2000 Geni, no more AV buzzing!
My question is, has anyone with a MoHo from my era ripped out all the boxes, wires, connectors, more wires, 200lb TVs and gone completely wireless? If anyone in the Socal area can suggest a GREAT RV AV shop I would be grateful as well...Al & Ed in Vista tried to install an isolator that didn't work.

When you run your TV do you use an inverter or always run off the Honda but through the shore cord rather than through the window? A lot of noise is generated by modified sine wave inverters and different types of lighting. Some fluorescnet and LED. Sometimes the audio systems are the culprits.
I don't know how you could power things wirelessy.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Not saying it can't be done, but I wouldn't know how to approach it. Just noticed you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Agree with John Hilley.... probably your modified sine wave inverter or fluorescent lights.
Small pure sign wave inverter about 400 watts could be used to run TV.
Does the noise happen only on battery power? Do you have a built in generator?

Thanks for the welcome, and advice. I did have one tech suggest replacing the inverter..
I have no rope or LED string lights. I do notice a change in the buzzing tone when I turn on / off the fluorescent lights.
This buzzing has gotten worse since we bought the MH five years ago, and it makes no difference if I'm on shore power or generator power. The only way I can play a movie and not go insane is to run the external extension cord out the window and use the external generator.
This may muddy the water more, but the sound system is run through the dash audio deck, which has a 6 disc CD changer hooked up to it and it sounds fine going down the road, or in the morning just playing some music...I'm thinking more now about that inverter as the dash audio deck does not run through the inverter, just the video/tv does....

Thanks Pasdad1, much appreciated! The audio store installed an insulator device which they stated worked 80% of the time. In my case, I was the other 20%.
Since I have no more cassette tapes or even CDs for that matter, I want to pull out all the outdated gear. I am hesitant to pull the King Dome electronics as someone in the future may want to hook it up. While washing the roof this past weekend, I considered pulling the crank-up antenna and patching the holes.
Are either of those levels of technology worth holding onto?

Depending on the model of King Dome, it probably isn't relevant anymore. The open face dish certainly isn't relevant.

Thank you everyone for the help! I am going to try Pasdads1's idea of the $19.99 fix before I bite off the new inverter to the tune of $800, plus install...
Desert season is here in SoCal and this is where the MH pays for itself...funny thing, now the kids can lay around and watch movies after riding all day, I save a ton of money in firewood!

What size inverter do you have? $800 seems pretty expensive. If it is the stock entertainment inverter, it is probably 300 watts. Should be $200 or less to replace with pure sine wave and a simple swap out.
The Bluetooth Speaker is a good idea.

Tripp lite
John Hilley, I have the TRIPP LITE RV1012ULHW.
Here are some diagnostic steps, more like isolation steps to eliminate or isolate where the buzzing could be coming from:
TV/DVD power from onboard generator = buzzing
TV/DVD power from 120v A/C from my garage = buzzing
TV/DVD power from 120v A/C from my garage = NO buzzing
NOTE 1: When I leave the coach plugged into the 120v A/C from my garage, AND have the TV/DVD powered from the garage on a separate extension cord, there is the buzz.
NOTE 2: The audio system is powered by the engine battery, not the house batteries.
NOT sure why the pictures posted upside down...first time posting a photo...

To me it is the sound of a ground going bad. Had the issue on a friends camper. Cleaned the grounds and all was good. YMMV
