We are ordering up Dish TV both for the home and from which I plan to borrow a HD DVR to put in the motorhome when out and about.
Will have a Dish 722 as the main unit at home recording when we are gone but want the DVR in the coach, too, when traveling. Since many place to stop have cable tv access, does anyone know if Dish has a HD DVR that works and provides connection capability for the cable tv input so we can record from that source when it is available?

Most receivers have a coax "antenna" connection that will put the cable signal through when the box is off. Looks like the 722 does too. Take a look at this brochure http://www.homes.org/pdffiles/722.pdf The picture of the back shows the connection for the "over the air antenna".
I am curious why you would need to connect the cable to the satellite receiver though. I assume your coach has a control box to switch the TV between inputs I.E. Satellite, antenna, cable and aux.

Even if the receiver has an OTA input on the back, you won't be able to record cable TV programming with it. The only OTA input that satellite DVRs can record (if they can record OTA at all) is ATSC (Digital) programming. That's because the broadcast data is already in a digital format, and the receiver just has to record the digital data to it's internal disk drive. Cable and OTA analog would need to be converted to digital before they can be saved, and the receivers can't do that.
The 722 will record digital OTA. The document linked above says "View digital over-the-air broadcasts on TV1; record digital broadcasts (playback on TV1 or TV2)". But that's not going to help you with RV Park Cable TV.

Agree with the above comments that you cannot record from cable on your DVR. The cable input on your DISH DVR should be on the back right hand side as you are facing the rear of the box.

Guess I didn't compute that he was trying to record the cable input
A standalone DVR would work for that but how many would you want to have.

This is, of course, just exactly the information I needed, even if it is not what I hoped to learn.
Thanks.

We have a 211K in our motor home and had a 722 and 522 at home. When Dish decided raise the fees on the second DVR, I returned the 522 and got another 211k for home.
If you pay $40 dollar DVR fee, you buy a USB hard drive and plug it into the 211 to turn it into a DVR. Pay the fee once for all 211s. There is no monthly DVR fee for it. In addition, it has an antenna input so you can receive and record over the air, too.
It works better than a 722 in our coach with a Kingdome.
