King-Dome 9702LP Questions

I have a 2005 National Tropical and am updating the video systems. It has a King-Dome 9702LP satellite dish. I have looked at the manuals and have been reading the posts here and it looks like this system is designed for the Dish 500 type of programming.

My question is on Dishnet HD programming satellites and this model of dish. I have a pair of Echostar VIP722k HD/DVR receivers that I have from my home install. Going to be full timing after Christmas and was hoping to set up the 722 receivers in the RV.

Can anyone tell me if the 9702LP can sync to Dishnet HD satellites? It appears that Sat 129 is the HD standard now and I know the controller for the 9702 only has the 110 / 119 satellites listed.

Any help and advice will be appreciated. I am looking at what seems to be an outdated King-Dome system but I am no expert on this so I thougt I'd throw it out on this great forum and get opinions on upgrades, or a reality check that says replace the old KD.

You can sync to Dish satellites if the dome is programmed properly. The dome can only view one satellite at a time. Since the 722s have two receivers in them, this will be a problem. Hooking two of them up compounds the problem. I have a 211 receiver wirh an external hard drive that works well as a single tuner DVR. I have read that people trying to connect dual tuner DVRs have problems, due to not being able to see more than one satellite at a time.

Thanks for the information. I know I will have to find a dealer or contact King Controls to reprogram the unit. I can over come the dual yner issues with the 722 by connecting the main LNB to the main TV Sat box Input 1 only. I would hook the rear Sat box up to to the Aux King LNB. Can watch different channels but only from one satellite.

Quick clarification, are you able to sync to the Dish HD Satellites after reprogramming?

I had a chat with the King Controls tech support folks yesterday. They walked me through the process for finding additioanl satellies. Looks like the 9702LP can find all satellites available, you just have to keep hitting the search botton until you get to the sat you want and have a signal.

I'll be checking this out over the weekend.

I have the same dish and set the 9702 to option 1000. It will then automatically swtich between 110, 119, and 129 depending on which channel I select. There is a short delay while it is switching satelites but it works.

This is good news, I have a single switch contol unit. How do you set the KD to the Dish 1000 mode?

I upgraded my switch a couple of years ago so that I can select different satilites. I think I paid around $250 for the upgrade but you would have to find a Dishnetwork dealer that could do it. You could call Dishnetwork and ask them.
