Facts:

Kingdome in motion 9762-LP
Dish Network VIP211
Installed in Motorhome
Kingdome set to Dish 110-119
Currently get HD Channels and local digital (Satellite 129) but not Standard Dish (Satellite 110-119)
I at one time got standard and HD channels

I've gone from bad to worse, spent 10+ hours on phone calls, Internet, trying ****, and two tech visits. I've learned that Dish hires idiots, and Kingdome says they'll have some one call in a couple of hours.

I went from getting both Standard Channels and HD Channels to just standard. After jacking around with the Kingdome (setting to Dish 129) I got only HD channels. I changed it back to Dish 110-119 and still only get HD and Digital local.

The display on the Kingdome says:

Run: Lock Verify (I can't find reference to the Verify part in the manuals or Internet)
DISH 110/119 (which flashes to) Now On? ==> (which Flashes to) ALL REGIONS

I've changed regions to my region - no help
I've changed satellite to just 110 -- no help

On the Dish receiver I've done the 6 1 1 (point satellite) a dozen times and still only come up with 129 and not 110 and 119

I've moved the motorhome into wide open area -- so that's not the deal.

I feel like it has something to do with the Kingdome not properly setting itself up to point at 110 and 119.

Dish says they can give me numbers of places like Camping World who I can pay to figure out. Kingdome's tech support is a leave your name and number and we'll call back withing two hours.

I long ago figured out that you need to learn how to fix your own stuff when you have a motorhome -- so if anyone has had this issue, or deals with this in the their job -- please roll me a bone and let me in on the secret.

Are you a member of FMCA? If so I would suggest you go post there. Bill Adams frequents that site and is pretty knowledgeable on the satellite stuff.

You may also request this thread be moved to a more appropriate forum.

Have you run check switch? It isn't mentioned in your description. With our previous King Dome, the check switch part of setup was how the dish found the other satellites.

We had issues like this and finally ran the temperature calibration sequence from KingDome. I know that I downloaded it from the website and it may actually be in the owner's info if you have that. The thing about this is.....that it takes FOREVER to run. Hours... DO NOT STOP IT BEFORE IT COMPLETES!! After running this, we haven't had any issues...knock on wood!

...and I forgot to comment on the wait time for them to call. To my knowledge, everyone goes into the que and the techs call back in the order you called in. While they have told me in the past that it would be within two hours I have never waited that long. Although, I have to admit that the one time I didn't get excellent service initially from them was when I called close to closing time and the tech called back to get a quick run down of the issue and gave me a few things to try...which didn't work, but he called back the next day and resolved that problem.

My .02

On your control panel select "Dish 1000" if you are on the west coast or "Dish 1000a" if you are on the east coast.

You can also refer to the troubleshooting guide located here:

http://www.kingcontrols.com/userfile...2004-14-09.pdf

Page 13 is where I would start reading.

If you are bored I can give you my full story ... still haven't figured my dish out yet.

All I really wanted was to watch High Definition Monday Night Football while parked at the Grand Canyon ... is this too much to ask ...

Oh well I am awake ... I will tell you my story anyway

I recently purchased a 2007 Monaco Diplomat. During the initial shakedown cruise I was excited to find out the Kingdome already installed was the 9762-LP ... wow ... a free in motion dome!

Unfortunately the "free" dome did not include the "tuner" nor the "control panel". After some research and calls to kingdome I ordered the "new" and not refurbished tuner and control panel ( I really wanted to make sure I had the latest software).

After installing the tuner and control panel I was delighted to find the satellite was responding to the tuner and control panel instructions. Unfortunately the options on the control panel did not include the satellite 110-119-129 option.

This is when I found the trouble shooting guide listed in the post above. Good Info. unfortunately my control panel did not include the option "Dish 1000" . Hmmm time to give the Kingdome Tech Guru's a piece of my mind.

Well it turns out I need a software update to the dish itself and not just the tuner and control panel ... also I need a new piece of hardware for the dish itself ... apparently it is easy to replace, just a couple philips scews ...

So to sum it all up (if anyone is still reading) ...

Free Kingdome dish!

$600 for new tuner and control panel
$600 for dish software update ($500 is refundable deposit for tool to install update)
$129 for new piece of hardware for dish (free philips screws!!)
$100 Might need a destacker? (I don't even really know what these are yet ... still reading the manuals)

Anyway, having fun figuring this one out ... hopes this info. helps someone.

Well, it looks like you have joined the "club". I've been dealing with 9762-LP problems since last Dec and they have not found a fix yet. My suggestion, if you have not already done it, would be to do a check switch with the Dome input coax disconnected. This actually clears the Dish receiver. Then when you re connect and do a check switch(1000a) the dome should find all 3 sats. I've spent a bunch of money sending it back to them for repairs. Finally, they paid for the last(3rd) time I sent it in. Then they told me they checked "every channel and every transponder" and they all worked?????? Not possible without them spending a bundle on Dish programming, maybe they have. I have used their coax and I purchased a new LNB. I have connected the dome to 5 different receivers(3 of them singles and 2 dual tuners set for single) that should work with the 9762, 3 RVs and one stix 'n' bricks in an attempt to cover all the bases. I have one last attempt before chucking it and that is to change out all of the connectors. Most of the info that has made a difference, although not corrected the entire problem, has come from satelliteguys.us.

Last year I had a 9704 installed when I purchased my MH. As soon as I went out the door my system needed a software update to recieve Dish channels and it would not pick up DTV HD without some more mods. I didn't know at the time I was buying an outdated scaled down version.

I even had to pay 250 extra just for the ability to change configuration. An 1844 tester. Last time I purchase something like this on blind trust. So I will be stuck on single sat DTV for quite a while.

Ron,

Maybe its time to craigslist the thing and buy a winegard carryout instead?

I am actually more concerned about ending up parked in trees than I am about watching TV while driving.

I actually bought a carryout when they first came out but took it back. I had no complaints except that I did not understand it's limitations when I picked it up.
I do have some options with the KD though. I have one grandson and SIL that are pretty much geniuses with electronics and figured I would give it to one of them. Or, sell it to someone in the same park and collect if they can get it to work in their RV. I actually think that "I" will find a way to make it work just by trial and error.

Did you get the carryout MP-1 or the 1518?

It was the 1518. I don't think the other one was out yet.

BigKahuna, sorry to hijack the thread a little bit ....

I am curious to hear how you and others have fared in getting their Kingdome 9762LPs to run properly ... especially with HD.

Ron, Thanks for the reply ...

I am tempted to continue with the 9762 ...
