The Winegard would be a better choice if for no other reason than it will not require the software updates that the KVH has been requiring to keep them running.
Remember that no dome will ever receive the DirecTV HD programming and suffers from rain fade much more than an open dish.

Hi ninos,
Bill is the professional expert, but from a shade tree mechanic view, I have never been called to a coach with a KVH dome. For me, I'd buy the KVH. Mine is almost 5 years old. I've never had a problem and never had to upgrade the programming. I have the in motion KVH. It has worked as advertised. It helps keep the Gkids occupied on day long drives.

I've worked with both KVH and KingDome and would personally get the Winegard Trav'ler series that has the true Dish or DirecTv LNB's and dish. That way you're able to use any of their receivers to its full capability.

The only input that I can give is that my 2 friends have Kingdome and both have had some issues. I have the KVH and have never had a problem in 2 years. Winnegard seems to be a strong choice also based on what I have read.

That's certainly not the "only" dome that will work with Dish HD in-motion.

kvh came with my coach after first trip it would not pick up all the channels.Took it back to dealer and they said it needed an update brought it home and it quit working again took it back to dealer and it stayed there 3 weeks and they ask if they could install a Winegard because they could not get the kvh working. Winegard is working great oh by the way I have Dish Network this is my experence with Kvh personally I don't that much about the systems and maybe the techs don't either but the winegard is working.

We have a Winegard Movin' View dome (no longer made). We haven't had a minutes trouble with it in the almost 3 years that we've had our rig. If I were in the market to buy another dome, I'd get another Winegard.

Gary,
I have the KVH TracVision LF. 2005 I guess. I use a 322 DISH receiver.
We have had tracking problems for over 1 year, and for the last 2 months, it will not work. Sometimes, it will find Satellite 119 W, but will not lock on it; it will move between 110 and 119, no picture available.
The DISH technician has done all what he can do.
KVH referred me to a technician in Atlanta while we coming down to South Florida 3 weeks ago.
He came to meet us, and checked it, called his supervisor and they were unable to make it work because it is outdated and I need a new satellide dish. The guy was vey nice, and appears honest.
Any thoughts ? Thanks. SGB

Please do not take this as a sales pitch because that is not why we are here answering questions on this forum. However, I must say that this is definitely not true. Winegard's RoadTrip series has stationary and in-motion models and the new RoadTrip MiniMax is built to receive DISH NETWORK HD while in motion.

My motorhome came with the KVH in-motion dome and I upgraded it to an R5 so it would automatically lock onto the Dish Networks satellites instead on needing to be toggled between the two. I wanted to upgrade to Dish HD and found out that I would need a software upgrade for the satellite 129 and KVH tech support said I may need to replace the control board if it was made before the upgraded boards added Dish HD. Upgrades cost around $500. Rather than invest more money into a dome I had it removed and the Winegard travell'er installed. This was the best upgrade I have done, it is the same open face dish that I have at home and it picks up all three satellites at the same time so there is no toggleing between the satellites so I can use my HD DVR to record off one satellite while watching another something that cannot be done with a dome. The traveller locks on very quickly, as fast as my KVH dome did. If I was going to choose between a dome and a Travell'er I would go with the Travell'er based on my experience.
