Hi Ho: This is such a "far out" question I have not even considered posting, but here goes. We have a KVH L3 tracking antenna system which has worked as expected until the last few weeks. The problem is that the Echostar 119 satellite acquires and trackes just fine. The 110 satellite can be found during search, but the system does not track, but rather continues in search mode and doesn't normally even find the 110 satellite again. If one is really fast on the "off" switch of the tracking system the 110 satellite also works properly, but not if the coach is moving.

I know that there is very little in the system that can cause such behavior. It doesn't appear to be software because I spent more than an hour with the KVH technician loading new software with no results. Does anyone know if flashing the EE PROM has any chance of solving this problem? It is obviously not hardware related because the 119 satellite works properly. Or?

Any KVH experts out there? I can supply more technical data on the specifics of the system if that will help.

Thanks, Dirk

It sounds like This discussion in the Technology forum is similar to your problem. Could you have Dish Network?

Hi Ho: Thanks Frank. I made an appointment with a local KVH rep, but unless they have figured out how to handle the new 110 transponders that would be a waste of money. So, thanks for the "heads up".

Hi Ho: Just a quick resolution for the problem. Aften a number of software changes, the KVH engineering came up with a change to reflect changes in the FEC (forward error correction code) used on the 110 satellite. This requires changing two numbers in the SATCONFIG.

If anyone is interested, I can look up the numbers.

Dirk
