I have had two motorhomes do this was wondering anyone else has experienced this, and wondering if anyone has solved the problem with a surge protector/line conditioner.

It appears to only happen when on generator power and does not appear to happen all the time, at first I was impression it was my invertor braker but found out the invertor was not triping the tv was just shutting off, so assume its just a drop in power and it only happens to the larger lcd tv.

When the AC kicks in it puts one "Heck" of a load on the genny, a 1,000 watt AC can take as much as 10KW starting.. The voltage on the lines drops a bit (Read on) and the TV says: "Not enough voltage.. BY"

Now.. Adding to that is the fact (I told you to read on this is it) that many of us RVers have a few screws loose.. yes, Screws loose.. The metal kind, not the mental kind (Ok, perhaps.. but that's not the kind I'm talking about here)

When I had some very strange behavior from my A/C's I opened the breaker box, (After unplugging and switching to all battery power) took my #2 Robson bit and started tightening screws.. As much as a turn and a half in some cases.

Works much better now.

In my case, the tv stays on, but the dvr restarted when the ac came on.
I solved the problem with a small UPS, 400va. works perfect now. Of course The UPS doesn't like the inverter's modified sinewave. but that is just an upgrade away

It's most likely that there is simply a momentary power loss during the transfer switch change-over which causes the TV to go off. There's also likely nothing that could be done to change this.

Uh oh. An installer recently tried to install a modified wave inverter thru my Progressive Surge Protector. Bzzzz! Till he gave up. Progressive later told me that I was lucky he didn't burn out my ($400) surge protector.

Short version - read your UPS manual carefully. Tho in my case, Progressive did not document this incompatibility.
