leak at antenna

I recently moved my seasonal site to a more scenic, remote area of the park we stay at. It sucks going from a complete full hookup to a water/electric only... however, the view is great!
I was playing around with the antenna trying to get a signal and the handle popped off. It didn't seem broke as the handle is just a slip-on type. The next day it rained and later on my daughter pointed out some water on the carpet right below the handle location. After leaving for that weekend, I placed a trash can below just in case and picked up a tube of exterior caulking for when I go back in hopes that it was only some cracked sealant from the top side... If that's the case, I will clean it up and reseal it.
If not:
What are my options?
Will I need a replacement?
I don't even use it anyway because I have NEVER picked up a signal or TV channels... Is there something I can replace with that will actually work or just disconnect and patch it with something?

Guess you are talking about the Winegard "batwing" antenna. It needs yearly greasing via a fitting on top. Keeps it from leaking, says Winegard. Think you need silicone. Not sure.

Scooter.... Are you making that up? I never saw a fitting on either my 5er or MH. More like semi-exposed gears. I just put a finger-full of lithium white grease on them every now and then.

That's the one. The only times I cranked it up was while cleaning the roof.. I probably shoulda paid more attention to the maintnance part but oh well. I think it would've felt more valuable to me if I could actually get a channel with the antenna booster on so that's why I was possibly looking at other options

Todd, do you have a converter? It won't work without one.

Over the air TV signals are almost all digital now. The box is about 6x4x1" and cost ~$40. Unless you have a digital TV, you will need one.

When TV signals first went digital, the boxes were free with a gov't coupon.

In hooking that up, would I connect to tv and to the antenna booster?

The cable that now goes to your TV, goes into the converter in and the output of the converter goes into the TV. If you have a VCR, it would go there first. The box plugs into an AC outlet or inverter. They make all sizes and prices. On that Best Buy site, type digital converter in the search box and you will see.

I got two coupons. I ordered with my neighbor's addy. Think I gave the other one to a computer challenged nerd who couldn't find the "Any" key.

Thanks, it will be a cluster but I'll get one and figure it out. The camper came with a 24"flat screen and that is hooked into a tuner setup with radio, dvd and surround sound. I'm feeling like I'm going to go through with all this aggrivation and be able to pick up 1 or 2 fuzzy channels

Are you sure that TV is not already digital? Can you pick up any channels at home? It should have a channel search mode where it goes out and finds all channels in your area.
