Has anyone tried a Linksys Range Extender..?? Cost is $99.00 and is supposed to amplify wireless signals. One user said they went from "one bar to four bars" but he was a salesman at Office Max. It plugs into a 110 volt outlet only. No other connections. Thought it might help receiving a marginal wireless signal in campgrounds.

I have used them and they do work in most cases. It would be misrepresenting the product to sayyou will get 4 bars of signal...maybe.
My last experience was in a campground and it only worked if the extender was about half way between me and the access point.
Also if the campground uses WEP security you have to program the extender accordingly.
I now use a Linksys USB adapter with Range Boost. It works very good and gives me 4 to 5 bars of signal all the time regardless of the campground. For the money the USB adapter is far less $$ and quite reliable.

Have you heard of or considered WiFire? If is powered from the USB port, so no external 110VAC is necessary for it to operate.
I am considering buying one, but have to balance the cost with how often it would provide me with the service I want. We are rarely on the road more than 6 weeks/year, and of the past 7000 miles, we've only encountered about 4-5 nights when I would have liked to have improved service.

I looked into the info on this product and to me it appears to be a mighty fine product. The specs are impressive, particularly the 1500 ft performance.
For someone who wants better Wi-Fi connections this maybe their best solution.
Thanks Paul, for posting this good info.

I bought one of these:
http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts...DE=NTHA-HWU8DD
after reading about it on another forum. It works extremely well. I have connected to AP's 1/4 mile away. Well worth the price. (I have nothing to do with the company or the above link.)

I have a Wi-Fire and I think that it is a great product. It is perfect for those out of reach wireless signals that I could not get before. It plus right into my USB port and the connection is fast. It took me fifteen minutes maximum to set it up and I use it when I am moving around my house and when I am traveling.
