Appears that several people have downloaded DD-WRT on the Linksys Router and now use the Linksys as a Repeater to connect to and repeat a distant campground WiFi signal.
What have you set the TX Power to?
What type of antenna are you using?
How happy are you with the results?
I have converted a Linksys to DD-wrt, in testing appears to works great here at home, but out on the road, distance to a campground WiFi signal may be a different story. I have read not to run over 70mW TX Power????
Have been using the Alfa 1000mw unit and have been very happy with it, has worked everywhere - but have purchsed the iPad for my wife for Christmas and the Repeater will allow WiFi access for both the computer and the iPad if it works as well as the Alfa in connecting to a canpground router.
thanks

The reason why you are not supposed to run over 70mW is thermal. Some people have wired a fan in and opened the vent holes in the case to allow better cooling.
DD-Wrt also runs on the Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH, actually you can buy a version from Buffalo with DD-wrt pre-loaded. This router is designed for high power, as are a couple of others in their line that also are available with DD-wrt pre-loaded.

Additional info:
I have a Heat Sink and cooling fan installed. Also use the 8.5dBi and 15dBi external antennas. My curiosity is with anyone using the Linksys Router with DD-WRT loaded and running as a Repeater, or using the JEFA Repeater, or the Illumi-Nations Repeater. My curiosity is what the TX Power is set at on any of these is use.
