Looking for a multifaceted video editor.

I have two Sony Handicams (SX40 and SX43) A Sony DFC-F717 (video still unit) and a Jazz HDEV180 that I use for doing videos. What I would like is a video download system that will recognize all the different MP and AV versions these produce. It is PITA to try to edit the different formats into one video stream to post to Youtube or wherever.

Does anyone know of a really really cheap (read free) download that would do all this for me. TIA

I use VideoReDo TVSuite. It allows me to import, edit, and export various file formats, including .MTS video files from my Sony camera. But it isn't free, so it does not meet your criteria. But there is a free trial version that allows you to check it out first.

I doubt you'll find anything free that you'd be happy with.

I use Corel Video Studio Pro. Here it is for under $20 shipping included.
