We are on DTV HD and watching a Samsung 32" LCD HD TV. My DTV receiver is about 8 years old. We have started loosing the colors in our pictures. Everything is green. I could go to the receiver and change from a 1080 to a lower ratio and the color would return for a while then disappear again. Is it possible the receiver is going bad. The TV is only about 6 months old. I have done a color test pattern on the TV and all looks good. Any advise would be helpful.

Have you tried other sources such as a DVD or perhaps local digital TV broadcasts to make sure it's not the TV? This would help isolate the problem.

And if the movies look good- try making sure all the component cables are firmly pushed in the tv and the cable/sat box...this will certainly cause the issue you are talking about.

This is almost certainly a loose cable issue. Each of those component cables carries a different component (thus the name) of the total color signal. If one is loose or broken, you'll get skewed color. Check the connections at both ends and try another (shorter) direct cable to determine the problem is with your MH wiring.

You probably have done this already -but reboot the direct receiver to see if this fixes the problem

I see several possibilities.. First: What Don/Lou and others have said about rebooting and checking connectors... I had much the same problem with one of my computers.. A new cable (Computer to monitor) and it's 100% again.. You may just have a screw loose (Connector loose) or a bad cable.

If the receiver gets "Confused" strange things can happen. RE-BOOT usually fixes that.

Finally, Weak signal.. Usually though that results in black and white or pixelating, not green.

NOTE regarding loose screw/connection.

Said fault might be INTERNAL to either the reciever or the TV, To narrow it down play Swap around (Try a different TV or Try the TV on a different receiver or both)

I'm out of town now, but when I get home I'll have some ammunition to use on this problem...thanks to all. I'll keep you posted as to what I find.

If your DTV HD receiver is silver, call DirecTV and have them send you another one. They recalled the H20 because of overheating. 8 years is a long time on a receiver.
