When I am writing a post and have to use the "Backspace" key I will loose the post, it just goes away. This is intermittent, but happens often and if it is a long post I just give up. Thanks for your help.

The Backspace key is also used to to go to a previous page in your Browser. Sometimes, the 'focus' is on the page and not the text box (clicked the page outside the text box), so hitting it will cause you to 'go back'. In IE, this behavior is a little flaky and does it one day, not the next.

Thanks but I did not follow you when you said (clicked the page outside the tex box)??
It did it again on my next post, hit the BS key more than once quickly.

When you go to reply, you have to click somewhere in the text box to type, correct? If you later click outside of it - like on the page background - you have then told the browser you want to perform a function on the web page as a whole, and not just the text box. When this happens, all keyboard shortcuts will work. Including the Backspace for 'returning to a previous page' which will wipe out your reply. Just something to look into to see if its happening.
Another thought is the keyboard itself.. are you on a laptop?

midniteoly you are on the right track. I have been able to duplicate it. I do leave the tex box to go to spell check. If I return to the tex box and hit BS it will about half the time loose my post. Thanks. I don't know what I can do about it but will hit the BS key slowly and see how it works.

When I write a long post I will just post it go get the added information than pick up post in right column and add to post. If you know where you have to get needed info it helps also.
You have 60 minutes to edit I'm not restricted but can post long post usually in less than 60 min.
You can always go back and quote and add to original post.
When I write a long post I often wonder what is happening to people reading original post and I'm still adding to post.

I sometimes open 2 browser windows, both in IRV2. One window is for posting, the other is for watching forum activity. Don't forget to refresh the activity window to see the latest posts.

007 I guess that's it. If I do a spell check and go back to my post and hit backspace I will loose the post. Well I just tried it and didn't loose the post. Oh well, this one just posted before I wanted it to so I go in under "Edit" and finish it.

If I am going to make a long post, I type it in Word Perfect first. I can spell check and edit prior to posting. When finished in Word, I then cut and paste the post to iRV2.

ditto on this method, only I use Microsoft's Word or just a plain old Text Editor in DOS. Don't matter.
I do NOT like writing posts inside of any forum's text editor. That is because the editor is sending the characters to the server and then back to your screen. Not efficient, and if you loose the connection, you have lost your post.
Get in the habit of writing your posts in a local text editor on your PC, then just copy/paste to the forum's entry editor. Click SEND and be done with it.
