I have an old DTV receiver hanging around...RCA 420..actually made in the USA back in the good old days....been using my home subscription D11 with my Tracvision LF in the coach..it has no data port and will stop on EVERY bird in the sky...sometimes need to hit the sat select switch 10+ times before finding the right sat...today I decided to try the old receiver with an expired card and connect it to the data port....WOW....on the TV screen I saw INITIALIZING, SEARCH MODE 1...and the best part was it found the DTV satellite within 2 minutes! Then I turned everything off and moved the coach about 180 degrees and turned back on.....got a picture within 20 seconds!!! So, I will buy a current card for $20 for that receiver and leave the entire thing in the coach and just activate THAT receiver when we head out and suspend that one when home..then there is one less thing to forget!! All along I just though Tracvision was junk...maybe it STILL is, but at least I can find the bird without having to wait for the search to stop and hit the sat sel button multiple times!!

You can also have your dealer or certified KVH seller do a software update. It will make a world of difference. It is supposed to be done every 6 months per KVH.

I am not 100% positive, but I believe the KVH that required a low speed data port would need a hardware update to get past that problem. For now you have choosen the best solution.
