On the was back from Myrtle Beach Sunday, I turned on the new GPS I got for Christmas from DW and found out it did not show the new bypass around Jacksonville and Wilmington, NC. Is there anyway to update the information. I have read the manual and it does not say anything about this. I also called Lowrance and was on hold forever until I gave up. I have emailed them but it will take three days to get a answere.

Tom,
I know with Garmin you can add new roads. Did you do a search for a Lowrance forum, maybe someone could steer you in the right direction.

Lenny,
That's interesting about being able to add a road to a Garmin. How do you do that?

Thanks, GG I have found out the updates for the GPS are about a year behind. I had a Lowrance GPS on a boat that I had and got very good service from them. With this GPS I got no service. I have been on hold twice for over 15 minuites each time and Email to them not returned. I found out about the updates from a GPS web site. I guess times have changed. I have a Garmin Emap for my boat and did use it some when traveling. I perfer Garmin to the Lowrance just for the easier to use.

On "Auto" Lowrance units, you cannot add specific maping data - e.g roads - like you can do on the Lowrance marine units using their PC s/w. Lowrance is not the fastest out there with map udates. In fact, I'm looking for the update for the 600C which I will buy as an upgrade once it comes out - which it should in 2008.

But on other hand, I have found the 600C to compliment my 15XC GPS/Depthfinder/fishfinder in my boat quite well. The 15XC is an older Lowrance with big B&W screen. Adding the 600C in my boat helps quite a bit since its UI is simple, it is color, and its updated lake maps have more detail and are all built in. So together they are great. And of cources the 600C works great in my truck and RV.
