Hello All, I have a friend that just purchased a class B+ and is considering buying a used manual cube. One that you must manually crank to obtain the vertical/horizional reception. I do not have any experience with cube units. He can get this used cube for $300. Is this worth his effort or should he pass on this unit.

Thanks for you help!

Do you have any more information on what he is buying? I have never heard of anything resembling a cube that is manually cranked.

How would a so called manual cube be any better than an ordinary manual dish?

I use a manual VuCube. Easy learning curve for set up. Just needs clear southern sky and maybe 5 min. to complete . Runs about $599 at Camping World but have seen used units in $300 range. Now have roof dome unit but still carry the cube for times when I need some distance to get clear view South. Winegard also has a portable unit that has good reports.

Talked with my friend, He said its the vu 10 cube 1000. The model that is aligned by a remote. It is the cheapest one. The next model up aligns itself automatically. I've seen a new Vu Cube 1000 for $515 on Amazon. The 2000 model which is automatic is $800. The owner wants $300 for the used VQ1000.

We've had our VuQube for a couple of years now --- the manual version. mounted permanently up high on the back of our rig --- it works great!
