Medications on the road.

Hi everyone,

Not sure how to categorize this so if it needs to be moved, please do.

The wife and I are planning a trip to AZ this winter for about 10 weeks. The problem is, I take a Fentanyl patch and can only get a 30 day supply from my local pharmacy. I have talked to them, the insurance company and my doctors and have been the deer in headlights looks and finger pointing at one another. If it was a BP med or something like that they tell me it would not be a problem but with this and other opioids no one can seem to give me an answer.

I can not be the only one that has had or is having this problem; what is everyone else doing??

Thanks,

AZ pharmacies will not refill certain meds that were not originally filed with their pharmacy. the wife has a script for generic lomotil but the Mesa AZ walgreens would not refill since the original script was not filed with them. lomotil is classified in AZ as a narcotic. her doc had to call a script directly in to that pharmacy. so what we did the next year was to have her doc give us a paper script dated at a point in the future that we would hand to the pharmacist. that worked.

i'd call whatever pharmacy you use in AZ, tell them the drug involved and the situation and see if they will fill your from a paper script from your doctor OR if your doc can call in a script with or without refills directly to that pharmacy. then either have your doc write a series of paper scripts dated 30-days apart or contact him to call in a script directly to the pharmacy when needed.
