I hope this is the right forumn. As I have said elsewhere, I'm " Nuts and Bolts, "not amps and volts, nor pixels and gigs either, so... I have used annual versions of M/S Streets and Trips for several years, and with very few problems. Recently, and suddenly, my 2008 S/T version refuses to load on my laptop.. When cued, the blue indicator light blinks, and flashes, and I think I can feel the HD turning, but nothing shows up on the screen. I have de installed, and re installed the program, ( original disk), but nothing changes. The only thing that has changed, is recently I downloaded a Microsoft Vista service pac., and I dont think S/T has loaded since.. Any techies out there have any advice for me? Thanks... .rgr....

I am not 100% on this, but I think you have a compatibility problem with S&T since you downloaded the SP for Vista.

I think there is a tool under System Tools that lets you install a program using Vista's built in compatibility aid for installing and running an old program.

Thanks for the info FLYTYER. This is a problem that just showed up, possibley with a Microsoft service pak download. The software is Vista compatable, and this computer came with Vista.. They (software and computer), have worked together before.. Thanks again...rgr...

IIRC, S&T has an install limit. At least my version does. Call MS and they can give you a new number.

I don't know if this applies to the Vista version of Windows, but it does apply to ALL prevision versions.

Open Windows explorer
Open My computer
Open the C:/ local disk
Open the Windows folder
Open the Temp folder
Delete everything inside the Temp folder. Windows will not allow you to delete anything of value so don't worry, just delete everything it will allow you to delete. If there is not enough room in this folder, a program can't start because it can not create it's tmp. file. The Disk Clean Up program that is part of windows is supposted to delete the junk in this folder, but it does not work on most of the builds of Windows.

Appologies for my delay in responding, (WiFi has been down in the park), and thanks all for your help. Im still unable to get it booted up, this program has been on this computer for about 2 years, and has always run smoothly.. Its only recently that it wont load properly. I just found that my "across the street neighbor" is an X NASA computer guy, and his rep is that he can cure anything software related.. He's going to have a look today, and I'll get back with what he finds, if anything.. BTW, HAMGUY, could you share a Microsoft number?.. thanks all, ...rgr...

You can google Microsoft for support phone numbers. I don't recall the one I used.
