Well I'll be hell. I just got Millinicom last month and was planning to use it as my home system as well due to the service, usability, and movability between home and RV. And now after two months of service you are saying they are raising fees 20 per month......friggin figures.

Yep, I just chatted with Joe and sure nough, $20 rate increase on 1 May.....the bad part is they DO NOT disclose that on their site at all. I asked him about that, but he never replied to that question. How many more people will spend good money getting set up for a service based on usage and price......THEN find out a few days later their rate is increasing 25%.

Guess we better start shopping for an alternate plan. I can get by with 10 gB.

Just read the E-mail. When I get time, I may check into Verizon to see if they're cheaper for 20gig. I've never gone over in a year.

Just got my email...

Due to increased data costs from the upstream carrier all Millenicom
broadband accounts (Hotspot, Advanced and Standard Plans) will allow for
20GB of data transfer for $89.99 monthly beginning May 1, 2014.

In the event you require higher usage, Millenicom can add data in 20GB
increments for $89.99. This means you no longer need to purchase an
additional device, activation and shipping, to acquire more than 20GB of data.

Please note you can track usage online by checking the usage field at the
bottom of your plan link from the products tab in the Members Center.

I don't think so, the last time I checked going directly through Verizon, it was $90/month for just 10GB on the prepaid and $80/month for contracted service.

In the article that BobGed posted a link to, it says that going through Verizon to get 20GB per month is $130/month plus taxes and fees for a hotspot plan.

So I guess we still have to consider Millenicom a "bargain?"

I certainly don't like the increase either. However, I have been a Millenicom customer for 2 to 3 years. This is the first increase that I can recall. Also as already indicated Verizon is still significantly higher. Just don't know of any resellers with a better price.

Sad, but inevitable... it was too good a deal.

Even with the price increase Millenicom still has the best value per gb for heavy users, but if you just want once-in-a-while backup for CG wifi or the occasional Walmart stopover you can now get Verizon service in the Straight Talk pre-pay Hotspot. $40 will buy you 4 gb of 3G Verizon data service (60-day expiration), about as good as it gets in the pre-pay world. They won't put Millenicom out of business but for those with an occasional need it's a good option.

Yup, and even at $89 it's still the best deal in town, sigh.

Verizon is $110 for 20GB plus the connection fee for your device, which would be an additional $20 for a modem or MiFi. So unless you can get by with less than 20GB, Millenicom is still the best price. Note that if you also have a smartphone on the same Share Everything Plan as your modem or MiFi, it looks like data packages cost even more.
