Our mobil phone carrier is Verizon, and I will be looking into mobile hotspot phones so we can use our laptops while camping this summer. Most of the state parks we visit in Oregon have no WIFI availability. Hubby needs his online poker in the evening, and I keep in touch with my family and friends through facebook.

We went last season camping without it, but with the technology that's out there now, I'm hoping there is really no reason to go without now.

So, what's your favorite that you use? I see Droid X, and the Samsung 4G LTE might be good choices? Interested to hear your opinions and recommendations.

Thank You in advance!

I have Sprint and an EVO phone. With Sprint I am able to activate and de-activate the Hotspot function by going to their website and I only pay for the days I use. The phone is great and the connection has been good, even when 4G is not available. Having had different phones, I really like HTC. This phone operates well and they have an excellent user interface. My wife has a Samsung and I hate the user interface. I'm sure that Verizon has HTC phones also. Good luck. Mike

DW and I have Droid X phones with Verizon and love them. Never had more than the flip phones before this but now would never go back. Went with Xs because of the larger screen as there is no fixed keyboard only a virtual one which works great. Purchased new from Amazon wireless at about 1/3 the cost of the Verizon store. Phones were already ready to setup with Verizon, push one button and all was automatic. You might want to look at an App called PDA Net instead of paying for the mobile hot spot monthly add on. The X can also be turned sideways to elongate the screen to make reading easier. We also use the Google navigation app instead of the GPS. Up to date maps and currant traffic.
