MotoSAT/MoSAT is closed

See my recent post #5. They are no longer in business.

The status of MotoSAT is unknown.

Other forum's posters state that MotoSAT's website and phones have been intermittent recently.

One report from MotoSAT stated they were moving to a new server and phone system and expected to back in service next week.

Hardly encouraging news for MotoSAT customers.

This has to be the result of MotoSAT's founders and principals leaving and starting a new company;

RF Mogul

Today I went to their new website trying to find the latest version of software to download to my MotoSat SD programming Module. I called all their new site listed contact numbers. Nobody home there.

The latest version I have for the Nomad 2 is V40.3. I downloaded and installed it April 14, 2011. Does someone know if there is a newer version out?

If someone needs V40.3 email me and I can probably attach a copy of it to email.

Thanks,

Pubtym

Smile Dead..yes

I found out that about 7 key engineers from original MotoSat virtually walked out the MotoSat door and now work nearby at RFMogul. I called RFMogule @ 801-895-3308 and talked with Royal. The latest version of software for the Nomad 2 is V40.9. He will email it (V40.9) to me or others who email him at royal@rfmogul.com

This version can be copied on to an SD card and installed as per usual method with programming module.

From the DataStorm Users forum;

Quote:
It comes with great sorrow that we announce MoSAT's official closure. We wished that it didn't come to this and tried everything we could to avoid this situation. MoSAT and me personally want to thank each and every dealer and customer for what you have done for us over the years.It wouldn't have been possible without you! Special thanks go out to Don B for creating this amazing site which has helped so many customers and for all the help he has offered throughout the years. To Bill Adams for being a valued dealer and contributor to this website, and to countless other people. Each dealer/customer that has posted and replied to a post on this website we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It has been an amazing experience talking, working with and getting to know each and everyone of our dealers and customers. The entire MotoSAT/MoSAT community as been so supportive through our many success's, trials, up's and down's that words cannot express our gratitude towards you. We wish all of you the best of luck in your travels and adventures in the future.

Concerning things moving forward. As far as I am aware RFMogul will be taking over the TV line. Any controllers that we had in house for repair, they have taken and will be contacting each user concerning their controller. The Internet line is completely shut down and I don't think RF will be taking that over. MoSAT doesn't have complete systems but we do have parts. A few people will be in next week finalizing things and if you wish to contact them to see what is available thats fine. I would use Shane's cell 801-509-2118. Also, I have a few TV controllers that I would like to sell if anyone is interested 801-560-3107 or lewismitchellcollins@gmail.com

Again we are so thankfull to all of you for everything and cannot express how deeply we regret this unfortunate situation.

With all the love from the MoSAT family, Goodbye and Godspeed.

Motosat closing/Nomad 2

Motosat closed and then my Nomad 2 died. Other than sending it to R F Mogul to be repaired, I haven't been able to find a solution.

Any suggestions?

You have three choices that I can think of:

1. Send it to RFMogul for repair

2. Try to locate a (used) replacement controller from a dealer or eBay

3. Replace the entire system with something new (Winegard or RFMogul)

Pick your poison.

My assumption is you have already performed the manual's Test Dish Procedure? Did you get any error codes on any of the front panel's flashing LED lights?

By email, I did receive the Nomad 2 Version 40.9 update from Royal Lamb, VP Sales & Marketing, RFMogul.

I did ask the following question to Royal:

Does RF Mogul have a direct plug and play replacement or upgrade to the Nomad 2 controller and still interface normally with my MotoSat Executive Dish?

Royal's answer Quote:

"We do not have, at this time, a plug and play interface with the MotoSAT TV systems. One never knows what the future will bring but as of now “no can do”. We can do repairs of Nomad 2/3 and Nomad SD2 controllers. We have a flat rate which is $150.00.Our turn around time is usually 3-4 days."
