Movies & Content Offered on Netflix

I quit using Netflix a few years ago and switched over the Amazon Prime for streaming video for a couple of reasons:
* I had Prime anyway; and
* the shows on streaming Netflix all seemed old ... not much that was current (or even semi-current), which meant you had to get them on CD.

My question: Has Netflix improved its streaming library to where you can stream current movies? Or are current movies still only available by mail on BluRay/DVD. That's not really an option for the RV lifestyle. Redbox, which we use because of its rent-it-here-and-drop-it-off-anywhere policy, has that covered.

I can't get a Netflix free trial to see for myself because I am a former customer.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing's changed the movies are still 3 to 5 years old, OR they are really bad B grade, straight to DVD type.

Amazon Prime's selection of free (meaning included in the standard fee) stuff is even worse than Netflix. It does have more current movies on a pay-per-view basis but that is a different business model. Bottom line, you're not going to pay less than $10/month and stream current movies anywhere.

We currently have Netflix, Huluplus and Amazon Prime. We'd have Amazon Prime just for the package delivery benefits, anyway, so we consider the video to be a "freebie". The other two are ~$8/mo each. Of the three we probably watch Amazon the least. Hulu has lots of foreign and US TV series (for example, the Swedish and US versions of The Bridge and the great French cop show "Spiral") and Netflix has some good "made for Netflix" stuff such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. None of them is perfect but at $8 each I can afford to be a sport and have them all available.
