I use MS Streets and Trips to get my Lat & Lon to set up the dish and to find campgrounds.

Has anyone bought MS Streets and Trips 2007??
I just did & the found that the location on many of the Campgrounds is way off.
I live in Cortez, CO & the 13 campgrounds that show up with a 50 mile search 10 of them are shown no where near where they are actually located.
I use the MS Streets and Trips 2005 & the 10 campgrounds I mentioned above are shown in their correct locations.
I use MS Streets and Trips to get my Lat & Lon to set up my HughesNet Dish and to find campgrounds.
Has anyone else found problems with the 2007 version?

I guess will be returning it to Sams Club & if they do not take it back I will return it to Microsoft under Microsoft's 45-Day Money-Back Guarantee. MS will even pay the cost to return it to them.

That can happen due to a number of reasons most of which will be beyound Microsofts control.

The Campground published their new Mailing address which may now have been moved from inside the campground area to a nearby location such as a Business address or PO Box and no longer represents the Physical Location of the campground.

Federal Beaurau of Standards may have done some reassignment of County and ZipCode relationships and the Published address no longer matches.

Keyer at the USPS may have made a typo.

Microsoft more than likely does not create the data only the programming and must rely on several Governmental Agencies such as the Beaurau of Standards, US Post Office and the US Geological Survey to provide them with the data.

I verify the Physical Location when I make reservations and use that address in my Streets and Trips.

I was ten years in the digital mapping business and wrote data conversion software. I also helped develope many of the Geo-Referenced maps that are being used by the Magellon and other GPS units that rely on C-Map cartriges along with custom products used by utilities and government agencies around the world.

Hi Mike
I used streets & trips for the past 3 years while traveling and found it to be quite acurate all accross the usa and canada. I have not upgraded to the 2007 version yet, so perhaps something with the new version has gone amuck. I am now tring the street pilot 9 to see which one is better for traveling.
If you only use it to find your loaction to set up your sat dish, one of those small hand held gps would work fine as well and would also serve as a compass to allow a more accurate pointing of the dish. Good luck.

If your looking for you L&L to set up your dish can't you just hit "My Location" and get your exact L&L? As Neil says there are many different sources that imput to these programs for L&L settings.

I just bought S&T 2007 and was very pleased with it. It is locating everything I have given it so far. If you can't work out your problem at least you know the 2005 versions will.

I use S&T2007 for a lot of different purposes one of which is its ability to locate several hundred campgrounds that do not appear in DeLorme.

I'd say keep the S&T07! Don't leave home without it!"

In respect to using MS Streets & Trips for your Lat & Long to tell the Sat. Receiver where you are shouldn't make any difference regarding the accuracy you mention. Sat. Receivers don't require that much accuracy. They only use the Degree's, not minutes and seconds. This is also why they work with zip codes.

Besides it's not just Streets & Trips that has this problem. Delorme is just as bad, and so are most other software based mapping programs. As 'NeilV' mentioned the data comes from other then the software manufacturer.

I just bought the MS S&T 2007 and am really excited about getting out and trying it. Used it to track myself from work location to home and it tracked perfectly. The locate me function worked just great. Got to get in it and play with it and learn how to use it. Any tips anyone has would help me.

I'm new around here and don't know any better! My wife navigates us all over using S&T but when we stop for the night, I take the longitude and latitude off the Rand McNally Atlas and set up my homemade tripod for our HughesNet internet connection. It works for us!

I just bought Streets and Trips GPS 2007 and used it to Niagara falls this pat weekend. The three campgrounds that are supposed to be on Lundy's lane are in the wrong order and in some cases on the wrong side of the street.
Otherwise it worked well on the trip.

I use both S&T 2005 and Trailer Life Campground Navigator 2007. When I look up my home address both show it about 1 block off from the actual location. We live at the end of a 2 block-long cul-de-sac, and it shows us living in the 1st block.

I find both to be very useful tools to plan our trips.

I have a Garmin 2730 (discontinued a month after I bought it), 2007 Streets and Trips and the system in my 2001 Acura MDX.

I have had problems with all of them from time to time.

My motto with these is "trust but verify". Don't believe them on the exact address. Don't believe them in an area with road modifications in the past couple of years. I stll have the Acura GPS showing I am in a field when I am actually on a new 4 lane highway.

We were trying to find our campgroud in CA recently and it dutifully took us to the address. The problem is there are two roads in the area with the same name. The campgroud was new and had not yet made it into the GPS systems. BTY, we ended up in a very narrow residential area with my 32 footer and a 18 foot toad with no good place to turn around. We eventually got out put bruised the marriage a bit in the process.

I am doing my best trying to train DW in basic map reading and dead reckoning navigation. She can't drive so she has to be my navigator. I have maps all over the place and have been working with her on them.

We go over the intended route one step at a time before I even start the MH just so she knows where we are supposed to be going. We both check "Betty" the Garmin GPS unit aka "#itching Betty" as we are underway. It can get traffic and weather info as well as XM radio through it and it is her job to keep me on the right track. We don't trust here completely so it is important for DW to keep an eagle eye open for crazy turns that might be a tad shorter but are on roads that are so scrwed up they will break dishes...don't ask how I know this.

So...trust on the general directions but verify the final turns near you distination.

Yes, I just purchased ver 2007 and found the same problem. Yes, 2006 works just fine. Not much help to us looking for a campground when they are show so far off their correct location.

I use the S&T 2005, it seems user friendly and has fewer errors in campground location. I tried 2007 a friend has and I liked the trip planning OK, but not the campground info...many errors.

However, my GPS sits in the passenger seat and she does a good job of keeping me headed in the right direction.
