I'm not sure I am in the right place to make a post but thought this might be a good place since it's a discussion on KVH. Here goes.

I have a KVH Tracvision LM that I need a replacement control board for. That's the long circuit board inside the dome. Since KVH no longer supports these unit or has any parts for, I'm looking for a used unit either complete or partial as long as the control board is intact. I'm not looking to spend much otherwise I would just replace the whole thing. Any ideas or leads would be great. Would make my life travelling a whole lot better with the in-motion functioning once again.

Thanks, RS

Welcome to IRV2 forum!

My last coach had a KVH dome and I had a problem with a board in the unit. I don't know if it was the same board. I found there is a guy in Willis, Texas, who specializes in installation and repair of RV satellite systems. Here is the link.....

He replaced my board and, at the same time, upgraded the unit to "in motion" capability.

Of course, if your board is discontinued by KVH, he may not be able to help you, but he may have some in stock or know where the used/rebuilt ones can be obtained.

Regards,

I can vouch for David at SIM. He installed my DirectTV and F1 dishes. Excellent work and honest.

Good news. Talked to Dave at SIM. Found the circuit board I need and reasonably priced. It's on the way. Thanks for the lead. Nice guy, smart and the gal that answers the phone is nice to talk to and very helpful.

-Well I have even better news than the last post. Received a used control board from Dave at SIM very timely and at a reasonable price. Got it installed today. It worked right from the start. Found the correct channel on Directv and locked in. I can communicate with it now with my laptop which i couldn't do with the old board. Only one more test to make sure it tracks the sat ok on the road. But I don't have any doubts that will work just fine. The board Dave sent is perfect and requires no further work.

-Thanks Dan and Dirk for recommending SIM. Dave really knows his business and the lady who answers the phone is a great person to talk to and gets the job done.

Glad to hear this has worked out for you. Your good experience with SIM parallels mine.

Dave makes a good living working out of his place close to I-45 and north of Houston helping both the locals and the "Yankee Snowbirds" with their satellite related problems.

There are several good RV parks in the area and many of us have learned that he does make house calls for a reasonable extra fee.
