I did a search and here is a thread over 400 days old and it gave me the old thread warning. So in 400 days is anyone using the NetFlix instant movies to their PC? In the previous thread there was not much discussion. Just wondering if more folks are using the NetFlix program and their likes and dislikes.

I just pulled my flat screen out of the wall to install a wall mounted HDMI plug for just this purpose. My wife is big on NetFlix and burning movies so this is something we do quite often at home now. It took a little bit to understand how to get the laptop to send the picture to the TV but we've done it about three times now so it's pretty simple.

The only downside is you must have a strong WiFi link or it buffers forever.

This is not going to be a good solution in almost all cases for the mobile user. If you use a cellular connection you will exceed your monthly 5GB limit with just a few movies and start paying the very high overage charges. If you are using satellite, you will enter FAP before your first movie is complete. If you are using a campground wi-fi connection it is likely that if you do much of this the angry neighbors will be hunting you down as you will be eating up most of the parks available bandwidth during your movie download. I am sure that there are some high end, in city, RV parks that have a really good internet connection available but in most cases that's not the kind of service an RV park has the capability to provide.

Bil, I have unlimited usage so that is not a problem. I was wondering if the streaming with an air card was satisfactory and if folks where doing it.

Few people would even attempt it since nearly all cards in existence today to have a limit. There are not many truly unlimited services still available. I would suggest that you give it a try and see how it works. My guess is that you will get a lot of buffering but that's just a guess as I am not able to test it.

I doubt trying to watch a movie online with an aircard would be a good experience, even ignoring the fact that you could quickly go over your 5GB per month limit.

We are in a Verizon broadband area and even trying to watch a short video clip online is not satisfactory, since it stops frequently while downloading the video.

I have only successfully streamed video on my Verizon card with the strongest signal, and not always even then, probably due to local demand. And sometimes it depends on the web site, as some sites broadcast higher bandwidth video than others.

On the other hand, for two years now, I've watched Netflix videos via mailed DVDs as we travel. Send the video to General Delivery or campgrounds. Works just fine, other than the occasional disk that the local post office can't find. Then I just report the disk as Lost, Netflix sends another one, and the PO eventually mail it back.

That makes sense to me! If you are a satellite TV subscriber you can also order PPV movies (via the internet is best) and not be obligated to any monthly commitment, just pay as you go.

I've given up on PPV, and other high price video rentals.

I now use REDBOX

One dollar a movie returnable to any redbox.

I hear there is now a "bluebox," also.

I'm not so much interested in using a service like Netflix on the road or in parks - due to the above mentioned issues - as I am in downloading and SAVING the downloaded movies for later, when traveling or otherwise.

The issue here, seems to be a decent method and program that will easily record these movies to a hard drive for later viewing. There ARE several such programs available for doing that - anyone here have any first hand info on them and their operation?
