I had a new batwing installed at Newmar Factory, but the new one has a little box on the antenna supports. What is the box? Is that for digital?

The same antenna that receives analog receives digital signals. All the antenna is tuned for is a frequency and analog and digital both operate in the same frequency range.

Ok great but that was not my question, so I will ask again, what is the box that is on all the new batwings?

Actually that WAS your question...
I just tried looking at the Winegard site and it appears to be down. If you are referring to the box at the base of the antenna, you bought an electrically deployed model.
Do you have a model number on the antenna?

BigRigRVing,
In other words,HD does not require a special antenna. The standard batwing works very well with analog or HD receiving. Do not know what your box is for------

Best,

BigRig,
If the picture on this page shows the box you are asking about, then it is the motor to raise and lower the antenna.
If you do not have the controls inside, then someone put the wrong antenna on or charged you for the motorized version and did not complete the install.

My antenna is the turn the handle and crank it up type, the old one did not have the little box on the side, the new one does, as do all the new ones I have seen. No matter it works ! Thanks
