Question New hdtv to old speakers

2002 Itasca Suncruiser. Replacing old TV with HD. Can I 'simply' convert the speaker wire plug to RCA plugs &
plug into Audio Out on the new TV?

RV has one speaker on either side (no surround). The wire
is simple 2 bonded wires into a single plug. Some say I
have to add an amplifier to get sound from the Audio Out?
Maybe there is an amplifier inline already? Cannot tell from
the schematic??

I am electronically challenged. Any help would be appreciated

It will depend on your TV. Some TVs have dual audio outputs with one set being amplified (sound varies with volume control), and another like "line out" (fixed audio level) for input into an external amp with audio control, like a home theater system. The fixed line out is on most LCD TVs; fewer sets have variable output. Some have optical ports only, and those require special hardware or amps to convert the signal to wire. Read your TV manual carefully or check on line for your model. You may be lucky, but odds are you are looking at some type of amp.
