New SilverLeaf VMSpc JIB available

SilverLeaf now has a new JIB that will read transmission data. The new JIB is part no. TM501 and is now all USB, no more serial cable required. The regular price is $395.00, but if you send in your old JIB the cost is $229.00. If you just have a 4 pin VMS to diagnostic harness, then send that in as well and they will replace it with the required 6 pin harness at no extra charge.

I keep reading about the Silverleaf, where does it hook into the MH and how difficult is it to find where to do this? Does it make a difference which coach you have or are there different models for different coaches?

On my Freightliner chassis from Tiffin the port is right at the bottom of the steering column. They do have some different models to choose from. You can give them a call at (888) 741-0259, or visit their website:

I just received my USB version and it is great not to fight with the serial ports any more.

Wagenmaster2,

It is a product called VMSPC made by Silverleaf Electronics in Oregon. It connects to the same diagnostic plug that the dealers use for reading out all sorts of engine information and as far as I know it only works on diesels. I have two of those ports, one under the dash and another one by the engine in the rear. It works on most diesels and you specify in the program which engine you are connecting it to.

You can download the software and play with it without owning the hardware interface. Go to VMSpc Downloads | SilverLeaf Electronics, Inc. download VMSPC and see if it is anything for you.

I know I don't want to be without it. I have owned one for years.

Allison made a change in 2005, I believe, and the VMSpc software wouldn't read the trans data.....until now

I had a 1998 Nation Tradewinds with 330 CAT and 6 speed. I always had the tranny temp posted right next to the water temp on the VMS

Makes sense since 1998 was prior to the change that Allison made in 2005.

We missed the boat. What transmission data is available besides the oil temp???? Are you talking about gear position?
