new vizio tv, dvds wont play

We replaced our bedroom tv with a Vizio 29" flat screen.
The tv works fine, but we can't get a dvd to play, it says no signal
We are sure the cables are hooked up correctly, and dvds played with the
old tv. It shouldn't be this difficult.
Any suggestions what to try to get this working?
My wife won't quit till we get it working, help?!
Thanks
Sonny

sonny44,

I know you said you know the cables are hooked up right, but I need to ask another obvious question. Did you use the remote to select the proper input on the TV?

Are you using the same cables or did you change to an HDMI for example. In either case go to the television setup menu and see if the inputs are activated. New televisions have the ability to ignore certain inputs if not used. You can even change the labels for the inputs such as having them show DVD versus input 2 etc.

WE have to have our tv on AV
No we didn't change the cables
ANd we have watched tv, so we have the proper input selected or that wouldn't work either.
Could it have something to do with channel selection? This tv isn't hooked up to cable so we have to choose, 3-1

Sounds like you're trying to use the digital OTA tuner to watch a DVD going through an RF distribution box. You're going to need to change the input to the analog tuner and then select channel 3.

We figured it out, we had to run the set up for the tv again and it worked this time. Thanks for all of your input. You're the best
