Angry No "LNB voltage" message on my Winegard Trav'ler sat dish ??

My new Trav'ler antenna worked fine for about 2 months then stopped. On the control box I get "no LNB voltage" message.

At Windgard's instructions they have sent me a new mini coax cable and new LNB to install on the roof top Trav'ler dish. which I have done. However the "no LNB voltage" message still appears on the control box. The antenna will raise but will not search.

Anyone else had or having this problem

Take the head inside and use a short jumper to plug it directly into the box? Thus bypassing all connections and cable in between.

Do you have the SWM model? If so there is a power inserter somewhere and it may be unplugged or off.

I am not up to speed on the SWM model so my advice is not optimum in this case.

Thanks for the response. Not sure what you suggest I connect the LNB head to inside the coach... the DirecTV receiver or the Winegard interface box?
Tomorrow I will be calling Winegard tech again to see what next steps they suggest. Last discussion with them was if coax cable replacement and LNB replacement did not fix the problem they indicated the actual roof top antenna unit would probably need to be replaced..... errrr

Since you said the unit was new, so I assume that it is the SWM model, so if Winegard hasnt already suggested that you check the power inserter to make sure it has power, and actually producing the correct voltage, I would do that first. Then I would check all coax connections. The next thing I would do is go up on the roof and check for the correct voltage on the coax to the LNB.

This does appear to be missing power to a SWM head. When you are up on the roof you can confirm that it is a SWM head by looking at the LNB. A SWM head only has one coax connection, the conventional LNBs have four.

If you have a multi-meter you should take off the coax connector and check the voltage. You should see 19 volts on the coax line feeding the SWM head. Anything less and you are not powering it correctly and it will not work correctly.

These things can go bad, but I would be far more suspicious of the Power Inserter having become unplugged or loose in its connection. You should see a green LED light lit on the power inserter if it is powered up correctly. I would certainly confirm this before I did anything on the roof. Note: This is separate from your standard Travler power supply. (Or, maybe I should say in addition to your standard Travler power supply.)

Oh, one more question that has to be asked. Has anyone touched any of the coax lines since your original install? Unless they know how these things are supposed to be connected, they could have connected the coax lines incorrectly and the power is being cutoff in the splitter (assuming you have one).
