We just bought a 2006 MH that has a Winegard 5312 video switch box. The first night the setup for both the antenna and cable inputs worked for both tv's. The second night and all subsequent attempts gave us a "no signal" during the setup. Does this sound like a video switch box problem? I am hoping that is the problem but that sounds too simple.

I did not attempt the sat setup since I did not have a card for the receiver.

Thanks.

Randy

I'm sure you wouldn't overlook this.... but I do all the time...

Is the power antenna boost switch on and the red light lit?

Rick,

Yes. The boost was on. I turned it off when I connected the cable. Both flashed no signal. That is why I thought it had to be something with a common thread like the box.

I could not find another Winegard video box so I replaced it with a Magnadyne VCS-7. The old box stated the Video box power must be turned on to view antenna tv. The new box is all passive, no power required. I still cannot receive tv reception. Has anyone had to replace their video box? Anyone have any ideas on how I can receive signals to my tv through the antenna? Thanks.

You mentioned in your first post that it was working on antenna, however if you have the original TVs in the coach I would be surprised if they were digital ready tvs. If they aren't then you won't recieve stations from antenna (unless there is a digital converter installed) since all full power stations broadcast digital since June 2009.

My Antenna Boost isn't powered unless the 12VDC disconnect is on.

Thanks for the replies. I was busy with breakfast or else I would have responded earlier. I have an Access HD digital converter. It worked the first day we owned it but I have not received a signal since. I am concerned that the new box is passive and my operating instructions state the box must be powered to receive antenna signals.

The Winegard antenna has a pre-amplifier in the antenna itself.. The switch box is supposed to provide power to that antenna.. IF you have replaced the switch box with one that does not have the ability to provide power to the antenna you will need to get a power inserter.

Took me a while.. here is the part number
SB-2000 12 Volt Battery Adapter
Here is the URL
Mobile Accessories - Winegard

In addition: I have had it where I got signal on Monday, NO signal on Tuesday, no changes in any thing.. I had signal again on Thrusday. Again, no changes, did not even so much as stick the key in the ignition on the motor home.

Thanks for the research finding this part. Do I plug into the 12v connection under the power amp switch and run coax to the tv? There are two connections on the adapter and I am not certain how to tie into my system.

If your video switch has no 12 volts then the small "Cube" goes between the Video switch and the antenna itself.. It will be marked as to which side is ANT and which is "TV" That's where the 12 volts goes in

It it then sent up to the antenna... Electronics inside the cube prevent it from traveling "down" to the television and also keep it from blocking the signal..

The electroincs inside the cube are fairly simple... (I studied that sort of stuff both many moons ago and again 4 years ago) but without power to the pre-amp.. The Winegard Sensar antenna is more or less not very good.

Thanks. I called Winegard tech support to see if I could take out the pre-amp wall plate and the SB-2000 in its place. They recommended the RV-7042. The SB-2000 was shown as discontinued on the starkelectronics website. It allows for switching to cable or sat. Do I really need that capability? Won't I have that with the SB-2000 through the video selector since I should be able to locate one in the supply system?

Another question I have is I have no card for my five year old RCA HD sat receiver. I can either get a card sent to my home address and have it forwarded to my winter address or upgrade to another Direct TV receiver or DVR. Any suggestions on which way to go. I have no idea if the existing receiver works.

If you have the winegard wall switch/outlet then it should have connections on the back for 12vdc, ground and at least 3 cables
From left to right with the jacks pointing down

Antenna, Park cable, TV-2 and optionally TV-3

IF you can use a short cable to test unhook the left most cable (ANTENNA) and replace with a short test lead.. Carefully hook a voltmeter to the test lead (make sure you do not short it) and cycle the switch, You should see 12vdc when switch is in ANT position.

If not Replace check to make sure 12vdc is getting TO the switch

if not. find out why, If it is replace wall switch.

I assumed you ahd the "Flex vision" type switch (many buttons and connectors)

Yes, five in three out. I will have the wall plate replacement tomorrow. Thanks for your help. I will let you know the outcome.

Download this PDF:

http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload...nstruction.pdf

Then take a look at page two as to how your over the air antenna should be connected to the switchbox you have. Looks like that is your problem.
