Not Free Internet Service
Is there such a thing as a subscription internet service where you absolutely never get any ads of any kind? Can they provide the things that Chrome does? IE email svc, calendar, contacts, etc? Is it affordable?

It's not the internet service provider who serves up ads, it's the web hosts you connect to on the other end. Sounds like you want an ad blocker.
I use Google mail and calendars and have zero ads on those pages.

correct. at home we had earthlink dsl for 10-yrs before switching to ComCast and had no ads from either. to eliminate pop-up ads get a good ad blocker for whatever browser you’re using. we use an e-mail client (MS Outlook) to download, read and reply to all e-mail. a good spam filter catches most of the junk.

Many free websites, including IRV2, are paid for by revenues generated when readers click on ads being displayed. Essentially, a website gives permission to an ad service, such as Google, to display ad content on its pages. The website has little or no influence over the content of any specific ad and ad content is often keyed to user interest which explains why you often see ads for things you were recently reading about on Amazon, etc.
As others have suggested, if you don't like to see ads, then use an ad blocker, although quite a few sites will nag you about letting ads be displayed on their pages since ads that aren't displayed can't generate revenue.

As stated above if you want to avoid email ad's then get a pop or IMAP client so you don't need to use a web browser for email. I personally use Outlook on my PC and Bluemail on my Android phone. I read that Bluemail is writing a PC version. But Bluemail doesn't have a calendar built in like outlook does.
I do not use Outlook on my phone after realizing Microsoft in their infinite wisdom doesn't allow you to connect directly to your email provider, but makes you connect to their server and then they connect to your provider as you. That does not sit well with me so I stopped using their Android client. But I still love the PC version. In my opinion there is nothing better, yet.
