I have a HP Pavilion Notebook with a 15.4"¯ Bright View Display Wide Screen. Today I took the notebook in the truck with me to try out DeLorme Topo USA 5.0 using my Earthmate GPS Receiver. The program worked fine, but I could not see the screen due to reflections. It was like looking into a mirror! It was a bright overcast day. I tried adjusting the angle of the display, but it made no difference. The reflections washed out the display. My old notebook did not have a Bright View Display and I had no problem with reflections in the display.

Has anyone experienced this reflection problem? How did you fix the reflection problem?

So much for advanced technology!

Thanks,

Jack, Delorme has an enhanched display setting which changes the colors of the map display to better see it. I am not at my computer or I would be able to give you exact instructions on how to change the display.

Make the change and I am sure you will find the display eaiser to read.

Thanks Tom. I tried that change in screen color, but it made the reflection worse! This new technology screen has a great sharp display, but even at home there is still some reflections. At least I'm able to adjust the tilt of the screen to remove most of the reflection.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Jack,
There should be an adjustment ( probably on the keyboard to change the brightness and contrast of your display screen.

Thanks joeneal and Welcome to iRV2! This is a great site for frieendly information exchange.

Found the brightness adjustment, but it didn't do anything for the reflection problem.

I noticed the screen reflections when I was looking at the computer at Best Buy. Didn't think much about the reflections then; the scree display sharpness is what really cought my eye. I am pleased with the computer, but dissapointed that it won't work as my GPS device while in the truck.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Your better computer or electronics stores should have a screen-shield that will probably do what you're asking.

I dunno exactly what you call them, but they are another piece of glass inside a frame that you place over your existing pc-screen, sorta like a pair of sunglasses. In fact, I think that's the about the way they work, they reduce glare and off-angle images without dimming the primary straight-on image noticeably.

Hope it helps

Thanks!
Ron

You can use a screen filter to stop 99% of the reflections. Here are 2 different screen filters and they are only $6.99. I buy from this company and they are great.
StarTech 14"- 15" ST-350AT LCD Monitor Screen Filter (Blue)
StudyTech 15" BT-B150 LCD Monitor Screen Filter
