All you need to do to convert to SWM is take the two output coax from your King Dome and connect them to a SWM8 switch which you can set on the roof using some Dicor or Eternabond tape to hold it in place. Then from the SWM8 connect the coax's going to your TV locations. Where the receiver located add a PI29 power inserter and you are all done. All the parts can be bought from Amazon.
You can read instructions for doing this here: https://docplayer.net/23804085-Guide...-antennas.html

docj, you appear to be speaking and advising the poster like you have two Genies ...
One in the MH and in your house.
How did you manage that when DIRECTV only allows one Genie on an account?

If you have an HS17 (aka, "Genie 2), then per DIRECTV policy they only allow you to add clients (aka "Genie Minis") to the same account with it.
Adding stand-alone receivers like H24s and H25s. Or DVRs like the HR24 is not permitted.
You can add them with the HR34s, HR44s, and HR54s Genies (aka "Genie 1s"). But not on Genie 2 accounts.
Needless to say this causes a major headache for the MH, RV, tailgating, camping, folks that unknowingly upgraded to the HS17. As they'll need a second DIRECTV account to use their stand-alone receivers and DVRs now ...

I understand that he can only have one Genie on the account, but if he follows this setup procedure he can move his Genie back and forth from his home to his MH without any difficulty.

ALL Tv's are serviced by a mini genie client....even the main TV. The "main" unit can be put about anywhere and the wireless clients receive the signal from it.

I think I would go for the HR-24 and an H-24 if that was an option in the RV. While moving receivers between House and MH (Genie) sounds good, the practicality would not be.
Given this, I sometimes wonder about switching to Dish because of their option to stop and start the RV portion of the account. In reality its not that big on a deal, I've been paying for service to my Owned receivers in the MH for a very long time and generally using them anywhere from 3-6 months per year. Can I assume Direct TV would upgrade my owned receivers to their leased receivers for no charge? Also, is there any special phone number I should use to contact them? I know I can call and go through the whole process but maybe someone has a direct line to hopefully get someone who has knowledge of what's going on.
Once again...Than You all!

You'll be charged.....Go to your account on the web, look at your equipment, click on update equipment......then in the billing section, I think that's where I found the CHAT option...if you want clear English...just went thru all this....if you'd leased them, maybe get a free update on stuff.....Bought 2 for RV, and got 3 free for home

I know a lot about dtv satellite, but not enough about the mobile dishes to tell you your other options on that. (Like if you can upgrade and use both tuners on two DVRs)
An HR24 will work just fine today and we’ll into the future, none of the coming changes will have any affect on their being able to deliver your service. So yes, you can upgrade sooner rather than latter if you like without fear of the HR24 not working. As long as whatever you use is mpeg4 capable, you will be good.

Yeah I let auto correct screw me up and I didn’t catch it..
See if I can fix it...
If you have a genie 2 (which is a hs17 model) on your account, you can only have clients other than it. You can not have a second DVR or regular receiver of any kind when you have an hs17 on your account.
The genie models hr54, hr44 and h44 work just fine with other receivers and DVRs.

I agree.
If it was me I’d want a hr54 for the account, and a HR24 or h25 in the rv. Then I’d put the hr54 in the rv with the h25/HR24 when I was traveling.

DirecTV Loyalty Group direct phone # is 1 800 824 9081 xt 2360. They delivered and installed an H24-700 in my RV to replace my D12-100 at no charge. Cost will depend on how long you have had the account. p.s. there's no coax output on the H24.

Just got this response from Winegard about my T4 Antenna -
When DirecTV makes their changes as long as you have a HD receiver like the H24 or HR24 your T4 will continue to work as designed.
Thank you,

We have a HR44 in the MH with a C41 miniGenie client in the bedroom. The mini can access all the recorded material on the Genie. With 5 tuners on the Genie I'm not sure how much benefit the 2 in the HR24/25 would provide. The mini is smaller than either of the others if space is a concern.

So just to re enforce this whole concept, we all know that sometimes you have to set up a Portable Dish in order to get the 101 Sat, whether it is single or dual feed LNA, this too would require an SWM 8 ? Using a coax switch, toggling between roof top/Portable as your input to the receiver?
I have this feeling I'll be waiting till the dust settles before I make any decision on exactly what will be needed....I guess this process makes me wonder just how stable the industry itself will be once this change takes effect? It seems for awhile the trend looked as though Cell/Data/streaming was the future...now, ??? I admit straight out my understanding of it all is limited and I really appreciate the education I'm getting right on this thread!
Thanks again...
