OneDrive

I am looking for an area to store photos and files to keep them safe and decided to try OneDrive's free version. My photo files section seemed to look ok, but in my photos section are pictures of logos, celebrities and other stuff that shouldn't be there along with a few of my photos. I have emptied the temporary files, restarted and the problem remains. Any thoughts? Please keep it simple.

Perhaps they were test items when you first set it up. I don't recall on mine but there is nothing there except my stuff.

Maybe some sort of "synch" setup is putting them back in after you delete them. Maybe a Google search with the question will come up with something.

I am very happy with my setup and found that even large files can be transferred extremely fast.

I love DropBox for this - and you can share files with friends or keep them private. Here's a link to sign up for the free account:

Been using OneDrive for years, used up the free space and had to buy additional space. Never have seen photos show up that I didn’t add. It could be just during setup like others have stated.

Another One Drive user here. Never had any of that stuff show up in my account. Drop box is intended for an entirely different purpose. One Drive is designed to sync all the data across all of your devices (laptop, desktop, phone, tablet, etc) and it works great for that.

I particularly like the fact that all the photos I take with my phone are automatically uploaded to OneDrive without me having to do anything. Every document I create with my Windows laptop is automatically stored their as well.

Recently I did discovered a feature of OneDrive that I had no idea existed. I was looking for a photo of a document that I had scanned quite some time ago but hadn't properly placed in a "folder". I noticed that OneDrive has "tags" one of which is #text so I looked to see what was filed under that tag. To my surprise any photo which contained any text was in there regardless of whether it was taken with my phone or DSLR. I was able to scan through the images and quickly located my missing document. What was amusing was that the folder included photos such as those in which I had intentionally photographed a sign at a national park, etc. Anything with text on it.

After I finished that task I took a look at what was filed under the #animals tag. As one would expect it contained every nature photo I've taken of animals since we began full-timing more than 8 years ago. It was nice to see some of those older ones again.

There are number of other pre-made tags which does make it much easier to find specific photos. The tags probably aren't new, but they were to me!

It's possible you have other folders set to sync from your device and it's coming from there. Open the app, select Me, then Settings, Camera Upload, then Additional Folders. I suspect the mystery files are coming from a folder configured to sync that you didn't expect.

I use OneDrive for work and personal and love the way my files are available to all of my platforms and also protected via two factor authentication. It's a fantastic way to store your stuff.

I work for Microsoft but like you am only a OneDrive customer.

Did you download from Microsoft???

I use Drop Box and One Drive both and like both programs. Haven't seen anything in either program that I didn't put there.

Are you sure you downloaded OneDrive direct from Microsoft?

I suspect that it's backing up pictures from your browser temp files. As suggest by others, check the settings to see exactly what's set to backup.

Thanks for responses. I've tried them all and nothing will remove them. I have very few of my pics and my OneDrive is full of this stuff.

Problem fixed. I think my problem was coming from files on my desktop. Once I reinstalled OneDrive and didn't allow the desktop files to upload the problem went away. Thanks
