Pausing Hopper 3 When Not is Use?

Right now I have a Wally that I pause when I am not traveling. I am thinking about switching to a Hopper 3. I only have a regular account (not the Outdoor). On this current trip there were times that I wanted to record more than two channels via the Dish. I am assuming only the Hopper 3 can record more than two satellite channels at a time. I don't need 16 tuners, but I would like to have more than 2.

Can I pause and unpause the Hopper 3 just like I do with the Wally?

If you only want 2 to record look at the Standard Hopper or Hopper 2. But to answer your question call Dish.

I was told by Dish you can not have two Hopper 2 or 3 on the same account. I heard that others are doing it so I called several times and got different reps and the answer was the same - NO. Even called the local install guys and they sad Dish will remove won't allow it.

Yes, I think so because a Hopper 3 can also be put on a Pay-As-You-Go account. Check out this link.

Nonsense. You CAN have two Hopper 2 with slings on one account. You cannot have two Hopper 3's however. I have two Hopper 2's, 2 Joeys, and a 211 receiver on my home account. They really, really, want you to have a Hopper 3 and multiple Joeys. But if you have a reason not to, they will allow you to have two Hopper 2's. I could show you my bill, but wiseacre would argue that wasn't true either......

You're both wrong. You CAN have two Hopper 3s on one account, but you'll have to buy that 2nd Hopper 3.

How do I know? Here's a DISH Chat conversation I had an hour ago:

I guess it's who you talk to at Dish. I tried to get the option of changing local channels using the APP but couldn't since I have sticks and bricks account and not an outdoors account. My neighbor called in while on a trip and the rep set him up with the App so he didn't have to call in and he has a sticks and bricks account with an added Wally in his motor home just like I do.

The rep I talk to about the Hopper 3 never mentioned that you could purchase one.

Is the Hopper 3 compatible with the dome style antenna or do you have to have an Open Face Dish? I was told you needed a open face dish.

You have to use an open-faced dish.
