Pay for Satellite Demo

We just had a Traveler Satellite system installed on our MH. Total cost was $2477.00. Installer was Camping World in Harrisburg, PA. I also had to pay $52 (including tax) for a 'demo' on how to use the system.

Anyone else had this experience?

I have an Email to Camping World about this issue.

Thanks, Jim

Let's see, you bought it from them, installed by them, and then they wanted to charge you to demonstrate how to use it. Can you say greed.

Camping World should be avoided, period! They are very good at being very bad.

But no, never heard of that kind of greed. Ridiculous, but consistent for that company.

I look at it this way - you paid them to 'install' your satellite system, not teach you how to use it - it can be time consuming for them, as the satellite provider should give you instructions on how to use their system, which is why they certainly have a right to 'charge' you to provide the education.

I think what you're really complaining about, after the fact, is that they are charging you an additional fee that you did not 'expect'... the time to complain was at the time they handed you the bill. : /

there is no reason to disparage a dealer just because they make certain charges for doing things that you willingly accepted - you barter for prices and services at the time you are doing business with someone, not after you have left the business.

Bought an RV from Lazydays and they tried to add into the contract to have me pay for a PDI.
Didn't happen BTW. It's called nickel and diming you to death.
Price I negotiate was out the door except taxes and actual prices for tags.

As we speak, I am having my King Dome removed, and installing the Traveler 1000. (Great working system) Had one on my Pace Arrow.

A better business practice would have been to have added a few extra minutes on to the labor charges, and not itemize it.

I'd be more concerned about the total price you were charged. Even if you have the more expensive DirecTV version (more expensive than the Dish version), it's hard for me to understand how you can be charged over $1k to install an item that can be purchased for $1460 on Amazon.

Cost was for the satellite dish, 2 receivers, the plate under the dish, cables, labor, and a couple of connectors.

I looked on Amazon and the price is for the dish ONLY. One would still have to buy all the other stuff. Then, you've got to get it installed.

They told me it was a standard flat fee for the demo. I have a complaint in to Camping World about the extra charge.

Last spring I bought the Trav'ller from PPL out of Huston for $1100, and paid $500 to have it installed by a local RV shop, and they showed how to use it for FREE!!!!!!

I've never paid DirecTV for a receiver; they have always been provided for free.
