Play DirectTV when no signal?

A couple nights ago, we wound up overnighting where we couldn't get a DirecTV signal. Tried to view some of the stuff previously recorded on our HR24, and it appears there's now now way. Can't even display the "list", and from the recording history you just get "episode has ended". Anybody have a workaround?
Haven't called DirecTV. They seem increasingly clueless . . .

Thanks

Worked for me a couple of weeks ago. I stowed the antenna because of high winds and watched some recorded shows.

The last time I checked, I found that I could watch previously recorded shows as long as I didn't reset the receiver. Since we have an inverter and the DirecTV Genie always has power we only do a reboot after we've set up at a new location.

We too have an inverter, but the TV stuff (being mounted over the dash) is all on a circuit that is killed when the ignition is on. Good thought . . . but not for me,

I think I have to hit the menu button a few times or the list button. It is not intuitive but I have been able to get mine to work.

FWIW usually those skill switches are controlled by a "device" inside the electrical box. I wouldn't want you to do something "illegal" but it ought to be possible to defeat it.

Sometimes you might even find that only one of the two sockets in the outlet box is controlled by the switch.

Same here. I have found multiple presses of the Menu, List or Guide buttons brings it back to life.
