Powering the laptop

Hi - I am going to power the laptop so the co-pilot can use it while on the road. Should I install a small inverter for it or use a 12v power adapter? Or are the results the same with each.

We use a cheap inverter that goes in the cigarette lighter...works fine with a laptop and costs less than $15.

Well, when you are talking about feeding a laptop, these power sippers give you a lot of choices.. Yes you can use a DC/DC converter (12 volt power supply) Radio Shack sold the one I use (NOTE PAST TENSE) and may still do so today, Targus makes them and I beiive the I-Go line of products has 'em too.

Or you can use a small one-piece plug in inverter This kind has the whole device in an oversize lighter socket plug.

NOTE: Dash lighter sockets are not .... all that reliable.

I find 12 volt accessory sockets (NOT the one in the dash) work better.. I got to tear mine down and see if I can improve it's function.
